My Racedeck floor after two years of use

Two years ago I put down a Racedeck brand floor in my garage, and while people gush about them as soon as they install them, you don't hear as much feedback when they age. I'm pretty impressed with how this floor has held up and gone through working on cars and motorcycles, had plenty of ice/snow/salt on it, and just needs a soapy scrub every spring and fall, the rest of the time I just blow it out with a leaf blower. Note that my floor has the 'shiny' gloss finish, which is an extra dollar per tile over the standard dull floor - well worth it. Photos taken today as I was putting up a new shelf in the garage (just happened to have all the cars out).

Still looks great, and I would buy it again.

Nice looking floor. Thank you for the update. I am still trying to decide on a floor and you just gave me a little push towards Racedeck.

It does look awesome, that's for sure!

If you don't mind me asking, about how much does that cost? I'm thinking I might go that route next time around.

In August 2014 my total floor cost to cover a 3-Bay Garage including edging was $ 2,465 for 508 tiles of the TUFF SHIELD, or $ 3.99 per tile, shipped. Prices may have gone up since then. I put the floor down in one morning by myself, it was quite fast and easy to do. Here's a photo when first done and it was shiny-new, you can compare to the photos at the top of thread to see how it has aged.

My only concern with race deck is what happens with large fluid spills? Engine oil, etc. Doesn't it all seep down between the gaps in the tiles and make it impossible to clean?

Nice job, I'm sure others that may be hesitant will appreciate the update. I know mine looks just as good as it did before. Maybe a little dustier as i don't clean it often.

The seams are really tight, I have had plenty of spills on it, you just wipe it up, not much drama to it. Actually spills are better than going on the concrete because they don't stain. Sop up the oil however you like, then get some Simple Green or other cleaning spray and finish up. No oil slick, no stain, no residue.

The only thing you have to be careful with on a Racedeck floor is using a floor jack or jackstands, they will dent the tiles. I have some 12" squares of 1/4" steel purchased from Home Depot that I place under the floor jack wheels or jackstands to prevent denting. However if you do ****** up a tile, just call Racedeck and they will send you out one free of charge, and it takes 5 min or less to replace it. They are one of the easiest companies to work with customer-service-wise and won't nickel/dime you on things.

Size of Garage is appx 500 square feet, standard 3-bay, single door per bay garage.

I agree, spills wipe right up easily with no problem at all. But I will add that you should wipe it up right away, don't wait a day or two before wiping it up.

The tiles can be dented by basically any object that is heavy and has a very small footprint where it contacts the tiles. It is not unlike a fat woman in high heels walking on certain types of flooring. She can do a lot of damage to a floor wearing high heels, but if she wears sneakers, no problem at all.

LOL. Not an analogy RaceDeck could publish but on point. ;)

My racedeck is about three weeks old and still looks good (hah).

But seriously, the concrete floor in my garage is sloped toward the doors. When ac condensate or rainwater drips from the cars, it seems to disappear down the tight tile joints. From there, I guess it makes its way toward the doors, but so far I have not seen any moisture seeping from the tiles next to the doors.

I would guess the same thing would happen in the event of an oil spill. You would mop up/towel up what you could, and the few errant drops may make it through the joints. Presuming your floor is sloped also, perhaps some of the oil may make it to the doors, where you could capture it. But keep in mind the tile joints are very tight. So, if you have an oil spill and get right on it, your problems should be minimal.

Wow - that does look great! I debated for months, which turned into over a year, on which type of flooring to put down. I experience all the elements and wide range of temps. and was skeptical of how well RD would hold up. The people here posted enough to allow me to get through all concerns except how driving on and turning wheels on all the road sand brought in during the winter time would impact it, if at all.

That unknown, or "unproven", to me is the only reason I decided to to with porcelain. A much bigger and more time consuming job than installing RD, but I'm happy.

I think the gloss finish probably has a lot to do with it holding up well... mine with the regular finish doesn't look anywhere near as nice as when I first installed it. The white tiles especially have really discolored over time.

I am curious, how slippery do the glossy finish tiles get when wet?

Yea i think white is a very challenging choice to keep pristine. FreeFlow tiles also hold up well and truly look new after a years of daily use pulling in and out with: salt, snow, sun, water, cleaners etc.

I'm looking at the racedeck flooring. I have my design set up but I'm debating on the regular and tuffshield shield. Does the tuffshield clean up better than the regular? Less likely to get footprints?
