I am new to this so please bear with me. I have been reading all your builds for a while now with much envy. I was going to buy a home on the water at Lake Conroe but couldn't have my shop since land is at a premium and HOA restrictions are strict.

We are in the infancy of the build and slowed due to rain but almost finished. I have to wait until 09-02-16 to stain the concrete but will be erecting the bar area and bathroom before then. The couch pictured in the PDF plan will be replaced with an "L" shaped permanent bar. Primary use is restoration and drinking with friends. Not sure what percentage of each yet..........

Thanks man.....Not sure yet. My old *** needs to lose a little weight anyway. I went with the solar white roof and insulation in hopes it will keep it cooler inside. If I do add AC later, I may try a larger portable AC my buddy who does water restoration has, otherwise rock and roll on a permanent AC system. I read up on electrical cost and to be honest the potential monthly electric bill scares the **** out of me.

Last time I checked, unless you are a retail shop, drinking and working on cars cant happen without each other..........YOU ARE NOT CRAZY !!!

Brother, the bar itself is a valuable space. Every structure should have one for obvious reasons. Having to travel to another building to grab a cold one prevents work from getting done.

Nice place, Being a bit south of you I'm thinking AC. My 36X50 has the white roof and insulation but its way too hot in there. I'm looking into AC on mine eventually.

Thanks for all the compliments and support. As you all know, once you are able to take on a task like this it is an ever changing process and very confusing.

My building is 40X60 with a 12' eave and a 3:12 Roof Pitch. I understand why you Y'all ask because I had a hard time deciding on what eave and pitch since there is no data out there to make a decision. That alone is the primary reason I am documenting this build.

They are finished and now its my turn to work...........OH, I was going to have the door painted to match but they didn't give me enough time. Looks like another weekend honey do......

I know this is a GARAGE forum, but it all ties together and design matters on more than just my selfishness and MAN CAVE. The following PICS explain the left rear ICE HOUSE door and what I promised the wife at the same time she agreed to my insanity..............I hope you all understand.

They told me the "SOLAR WHITE" was an upgrade and would drop the internal ambient temp considerably. The jury is out on that but will let you all know.

Thanks for all the compliments. Glad to see all the neighbors and agree we need to form a group and hang out from time to time. Hell I could use the help if you work for beer............

Building was erected by Guthrie Buildings out of Tomball, TX. I researched pricing on DIY and turn key. The savings on DIY is about 10K. I am already an adult babysitter daily running my own business and decided not to deal with the different trades, issues, etc. I spent time shopping Guthrie, Archery and Five Star. Guthrie was a couple grand less. Slab has a 24"X24" footer all the way around.

Solar White roof and glass door were the only upgrades. Total cost was 52K. Overall experience has been good.

I'm going through this right now. I initially wanted a 4 post. Then thought about having to rotate tires or do a lift on any of our trucks and that would require a scissor lift on rails or a metal tray for jacks. For me it would be added cost or more complexity. Then I started studying up on a symmetric 2 post. It would work on my LB CC diesel and if it ever felt a little tippy, they sell those braces that go under the rear axle. It would allow me to do all suspension work needed and takes up much less room.....soooo with that said I would go 2 post and look at the benefits of a symmetric vs asymmetric. Greg smith has a place in Austin and I really like their lifts. If I could find them rebranded for cheaper I'd jump on that too

Thanks Brett. My design calls for both. On the 2 post I wanted to go asymmetric only because they have an auto stop bar at the top so my young son and his friends didn't run a vehicle up through the roof.........

I know there are much better lifts than Tuxedo but I am cheap and most all reviews are good. Unless I get more opinions and reasons why not to buy this brand I will pull the trigger.

If I get mine installed before you get one feel free to stop by and test them if that helps. Thanks again...........

You have built yourself a great place there. The pool is a great addition, don't know how we could get along without one here in Texas. Keep the updates coming.

Symmetric vs asymmetric only talks about the lift arms from what I've learned. Symmetric are equal length on the front arms and the rear arms. Asymmetrical the front arms are shorter and the rear arms are longer.

I think your talking about the floor plate vs the overhead which would have the padded bar to prevent roof damage!

I'm not a lift snob and will check them out for sure
