I was looking around on Amazon.de, and that deep offset wrench set (metric) shipped to my house in CA was $83. Not bad I think, but not sure.

Dunno if there's customs charges that show up out of nowhere.

...sorry, the first link just went to Amazon.com for some reason.

So, go to www.amazon.de and search for Stahlwille SF20/8

That's a good price.

Customs charges show up upon delivery, typically. For tools, the duty-free limit is now $800.

I was recently made aware that Amazon collects approximate duties when you place your order. It's lumped in with the delivery charges. If they overcharge, they will refund you the difference and if they undercharge you they will eat the balance. Amazon lists these details on their site if you want to read up.

Great price on these! These are the deepest offset wrenches I've found (translation - they work when the others won't).

That is pretty cheap. My set cost me about $125 or so if I remember correctly.

It makes me wonder what all cheap prices are on the various Amazon foreign (to the US) sites.

I have to keep track of Stahlwille deals now, I would have picked up this set, but a cheap set from another source is keeping me occupied for now :D

...here is something that looks similar pricewise. Check out amazon.de and search for:

Facom 440.JE16

I'm seeing 47.76 Euros right now.

I didn't go to the trouble to check the total price on this one, so YMMV

Facom is Taiwan made though, just incase anyone cares. Stahlwille is Made in Germany.

Yes, sorry if I wasn't clear. Specifically for these tools that we're discussing in this thread (their wrenches), are made in Taiwan. There are old stock Facom tools around that are still french made, but the new stuff is Taiwan.

You guys should check out the 12 piece set instead of the 8. I bought it from Jens Putzier, goes up to like 32 or 34mm. I recall it being about 120 bucks? Nice to have all the sizes...

I was considering buying the Hazet combination set (HAZET 603/8). It's in the mid-$90's delivered.

I just noticed that amazon.de has a checkbox for 'Made In Germany' when you are searching. Cool. It shows how the German market is wired differently than the US one.

huh...this is pretty cool. I noticed that if you go to amazon.de, it gives you the opportunity to view the website in English. I think the search is still in German though. It's a lot cleaner than using Google to translate.

I checked out the Japanese (and Italian) Amazons for good deals, but nothing obvious pops up. I can't say that I'm surprised in the case of the Japanese site. Some people there were probably a bit peeved when the US Nepros site had such smoking deals a few years ago, I doubt that anything is cheap in Japan.

btw, Amazon.it has the 20/7n Stahlwille set for 56.16 Euros.

and, on this topic, I went ahead and priced a 166C Hazet Assistent. Surprisingly, Amazon will ship these internationally. It was about $675 delivered. Even at that price I doubt they're worth it, but it's quite a lot cheaper than any of the eBay vendors.

I received my set from Germany. My first made in Germany wrench set and I'm stoked:) Everything looked good, casting and rough machining looked, well, rough. But the wrench are light and the center label section is crisp. I have yet to put it to test though:)
