I stumbled upon these 18" F-clamps in the front bins of my TSC.
Normally I'm wary of anything "clamp" related in the seasonal bins, but these F-clamps caught my eye. After handling them I determined the quality to be acceptable - at least for light to moderate occasional use - considering they're 18".
Anyone who knows the market knows a Bessey of similar size would be cost prohibitive for many of us, not that I'm suggesting these are on par with Bessey, and possibly not even Strong Hand.
But after inspection I felt that the screws worked well, the swivel foot seems ok, and the rail profile seems to allow for relatively smooth movement along the entire length.
Generally for anything over 12" I'd use furniture clamps, aka pipe clamps, so if you think of these in this context they're a huge step up. While these have less throat depth than a heavy duty F-clamp, they've got way more throat depth than a pipe clamp, and can exert more force.
I used them yesterday on a sheetmetal box I'm building, and they seemed to work perfectly fine. For projects like this, I'm thrilled.
They're $15 retail and I had a 10% coupon bringing them down to $13.50; I purchased two.
