I received an email from WICK buildings this last weekend that their 3D designer has been upgraded so I took another swing at my design.

This is as I would LIKE to build it, more than likely I will wait until I can do what I want. 2 kids still in college, so likely 1-2 years left.

Back / West Facing (towards field woods is 3/4 mile behind)

4/12 pitch roof with 36" overhangs on eave edge, 24" on gables
3 - 12'x13' overhead doors - Likely insulated
2 - 36" man doors
8 - Windows
10' x 20' Porch for main man door on right (3/12 pitch to match left side)
12' x 40' "porch" / lean too on left for my equipment trailer & utility trailer etc. (3/12 pitch to get me 9' height)

Thoughts? Input? Suggestions?

Great tool for anyone looking to design a shop, easy to use and quick to learn.

Left bay for seasonal storage of boat / camper / Camaro / Tractor etc. as needed

Center Bay for longer term projects like tractor restoration, Truck restoration etc.

Right bay for shorter term projects, likely to have 2 post lift installed at some point.

Unless you absolutely need it, I'd consider reducing the height of 2 of the 3 doors. Also, the smaller lean-to, I would extend the full width of the side. I might consider 1 vertical metal siding sheet (or some ripped width) along the lean-to, under the roof edge to aid in preventing sideways rain from entering. It might look strange, I'd have to draw that last one up to see how it looked.

A pole barn can be oriented any way, put the doors in the gable ends and the lean too on the sides. The designer of this building did not offer any evidence of experience with this layout. Often contractors eager for a sale do this as not to upset the customer. A lean to on one side would reduce cost substantially. This is framed for a 3rd door but never installed, already don't use the second one and wouldn't bother again. Doing it again would lean too wider by at least 5 ft and maybe 10
You can see cut out for man door also not installed, this is a storage, didn't have a main dood, was going to get one and it worked so well like it is I never did anything else.

Orientation will not change, doors will be in the eave edge. Due to lot layout and all, I want to have room to get a full sized semi off the road in front of building. Also aesthetically this would look much better on the property, and be more functional by far than doors in the gable end.

Door size is not fixed 100% in stone, but again that word aesthetics comes into play here. I could put a slider on the last bay as it won't be utilized as often. But that again plays counter with the wife's vision/aesthetic approval.

The open lean too on the left is a want and not a need. In other words it maybe removed entirely from the design pending it's cost. Trailers set outside now, under cover would be a bonus. Also looking from the house the wife does not want to see my storage spaces.

Thanks for the reply's keep them coming.

Without Lean Too on left side it would be like this.

<a href="http://s1074.photobucket.com/user/nwohiochevyguy/media/Shop4_zpsuy6p8fkw.png.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w420/nwohiochevyguy/Shop4_zpsuy6p8fkw.png" border="0" alt=" photo Shop4_zpsuy6p8fkw.png"/></a>

<a href="http://s1074.photobucket.com/user/nwohiochevyguy/media/Left4_zpsjeh0llha.png.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w420/nwohiochevyguy/Left4_zpsjeh0llha.png" border="0" alt=" photo Left4_zpsjeh0llha.png"/></a>

With this design I would still have a gravel pad on the left side of building to park the trailers.

I don't drive or service semi's, but for deliveries I "need" that room/distance off the road.

Building will have gutters on both sides with snow brakes installed on roof over the doors.
