It's a CJ-95-8
Circa 1953

It looks like a valve, but on the stem end (which is threaded) it has 2 thumbscrews.

Any idea what it is/is for?

Its a valve guide puller shank. Used with the CJ-95 valve puller to remove valve guides.

And then you just pull it through to the chamber side using the CJ-95 tool? I always thought valve guides came out the other way?

Yes, especially now that your comment makes it more valuable. :)

I actually found 2 more CJ-95-8's, for a total of 3. One is broken on the end so that one you might be able to warrantee...if they still make a replacement.

For tightening and torquing head bolts on Chevy Corvair. Two diff size nuts are used and this socket makes it unnecessary to change sockets during operation. An internal spring keeps the 9/16 hex socket extended and retracts under pressure to allow the 13/16 hex oppening to be used.

Yea, that flathead removal tool is the one I was referring to, but it's 2 pieces really - the shank (which is listed in the orig post up top) and the puller itself. I should really post picts. Makes it easier to understand (and sell).

Please do post some pics. Shoot me an idea on what you want out of it price wise. I might just buy it for him as a gift. :thumbup:

I would be interested in buying one also. A family friend is performing our wedding ceremony this summer and is big time into old fords, especially flat heads, this would be a perfect gift for him.
