It was suggested in the "Introduce Yourself" section to start a thread to chronicle my build. Well, I'll start it here. I live in Maryland between Baltimore and Annapolis. I have owned many homes and finally I get to design my first garage. I look forward to getting feedback and recommendations during this process.

I'm at the slab stage and framing starts Wednesday. I'll start posting pics soon.

Here's the draft layout of the garage:

There are many items I need to nail down: Subpanel amperage, floor coating, lighting, cabinets, plumbing, garage door openers, etc... Keep posted, because I will have lots of questions.

Re: Garage Doors

I have both 16x10 and 10x10 Clopay doors with R-18 and am very happy with them. They feel solid and sturdy. Home Depot, at least my local one, was far from the best source though. I used a local door distributor and got a deal several hundred dollars cheaper than the Depot including the install.

Re: Garage Doors

Anyone have any experience with the Clopay garage doors sold through Home Depot? I am getting three of the doors below.

Fellow MD'er here to! I'm in northern Harford county.

I got clopay doors on my barn last year. And R19 18 wide by 14 high and an r9 7x9. I got them through bobs overhead door. Much better them fight with that big sicker than me and a few buddies.

I'll be following along!

Welcome and it looks like you've got a pretty cool build going there. I'm on the other side of Maryland but we spend plenty of time in Baltimore and Annapolis.
