I've found a few posts on here scattered about but I'd like to see everyone's current garage radio/speaker setup. Let's see how some of you guys are taking the older "out of date" equipment and giving it life in the garage! Let's see how some of you are using newer options to add a little sound in the garage while you work.

I'm currently trying to figure out best placement for my setup. Plug ins for a receiver just don't seem to be in the right place and with poured walls and drywall over top, I'm not sure if any can be added. I've got an old bookshelf system with a couple of extra goodwill find speakers. Thinking about going Bluetooth eventually but for now my setup is temporarily setting on top of a tool box and I'm just plugging it into my phones headphone jack. I'd love to see pictures of your setup and placement to perhaps help me get mine in the best spot possible. Thanks in advance.

I have an old Sansui receiver I bought in the 1970's, and some old Bose 501's.
Bought a delay box on ebay and run a small set of speakers on the other side of the shop mounted at the eve. I plug a XM2go radio in and rock the shop. Old guys like old stuff.

I'd be interested to know what folks have as well. I have a cheap wal-mart stereo and speaker setup in my warehouse/hobby shop, but I am in process of aquiring bits and pieces for a decent sound system. As the cheapo one just doesnt have what it takes to broadcast over 1200 sq./ft.

I like to jack the volume when something I like comes on (think GnR and other hair bands).

Also would like one of the bluetooth, internet capable fancy receivers . Just ordered the beginning of my system with 2 Polk floor standing speakers. Just gotta get my sub, and receiver.... doing it in pieces as to not sticker shock myself.:willy_nil

Recently sold my dad's older stereo system very cheap on Craigslist as I was trying to blowout a storage unit very quickly. But I'm kind of kicking myself in the azz, as I could've probably made a fairly decent system out of it.

posted before in the other thread on this but here you go again. I run 4 amps and 6 pair of mostly older speakers and 3 modern subwoofers. it all runs through the arcade (MAME) with almost 1tb of music loaded. also have a couple turntables for fun but only have a half-dozen albums, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Styx, etc. but they still sound great

oldest amp is the early 70's Sony STR-7055. still sounds better than most amps...

When I retired my last home theater setup it went to the garage. Sony receiver and matching center channel, 4 corners, and a sub. Have a BT adapter on that and just connect my phone and crank it.

I'll post pics later

I don't have any pics, but I bought a Bluetooth Soundbar/sub combo for a TV. It fits perfectly on my Pop Machine, and I either plug in my MP3 player, or stream from my phone.

Every shop stereo started out as the house/TV stereo in my case. When ever I update the house the shop also wins.

My main issue is getting internet access as I have metal walls that do a great job blocking electronic signals.

I run my old vehicle set up. Two Kenwood truck boxes loaded with 10" woofers, a mid, and a tweeter powered with a 400 watt clarion amplifier. I bought it all about 15 years ago. I use a marine deep cycle battery for juice. I usually stream Pandora from my phone which connects to the amp through the headphone jack. I've thought about adding two subs but I can't bring myself to spend the money.

I have THIS bluetooth amplifier for $18.00. My plan is to install 2 ceiling speakers and wire/mount the amplifier next to the garage door opener and use the spare plug. I have been bench testing for more than a month and I am going to purchase more for the back by the pool.

If you look on the shelf just to right of the guys head you'll see the classic 'boom box' one of the kids left behind 20 or so years ago.

I have a similar old boombox in my garage too! I don't however have that cool looking metal circular cage/frame you are working on. Very cool indeed!

At first I thought maybe you were going to say you were creating a gigantic speaker, like the one Doc Brown had in his shop that Marty used to blow himself across the room...

The round thing is a Garden arch I built for the kids wedding. It now is the entrance to the wife's flower garden.

For those looking for cheap in-wall or ceiling speakers. monoprice.com

I've done a couple home theater set ups and whole house speakers. Very nice and cheap.

For those of you with a flat screen TV with extremely small (read crappy) speakers. A cheap set of computer speakers with subwoofer improves the sound about 300 percent for very little money. Just plug it into the headphone jack. Same setup will plug right into most phones (even old ones that are no longer used as phones) and make a pretty fair sound system for cheap. Goodwill usually has a selection of boom boxes that make fine garage radios.

Currently all I have set up are Altec GCS100 PC speakers. Eventually My Klipsch will be out of storage and setup with second channel on my Onkyo or maybe I'll treat myself to Monoprice new tube amp.

I use my iPhone, wifi and a Bose blue tooth speaker. No need for vinyl, cassette or CD. I have a number of great Pandora channels, Apple iTunes, or Amazon music, so it can go on for hours.

iPhone and Big Jambox here. I either stream google music or pandora. Works great and Jambox mutes music and becomes a good speakerphone if a call comes in. Amazing sound from that Jambox.
