Forged steel 90,000psi, 27lbs, 5" jaw width.

I had my eyes on this one for a few months to get as a portable vise to hitch mount to my truck and to a mobile tool cart. Price finally dropped to point where I couldn't say no!

I have this same vise at work. It is very smooth and has held up to a lot of ******* engineers banging on it like it is an anvil.

That's one of the nice things about a forged vise---you can actually use the anvil section without fear of it cracking. I'm one of those "******* engineers" that bought the German Ridgid and use the anvil for flattening things.

There's also a "Used - Like New" one for $120 from Amazon Warehouse Deals. And a 6" one for $170 (vs $190 new).

The 6" one is about 15lbs heavier, so for someone who needs a really heavy duty vise, the 6" is probably the one to get. I'm getting the 5" for the portability.

The 6" vise also opens 2" further, if that makes any difference to you.

I'm sure it'll drop again soon. More site visits = more product interest = potentially lower prices, that's Amazon's way, until the bandwagon joins the purchasing race, then the prices go up again to get those impulse buyers. Its a whole new level of supply vs. demand :lol:

Price is back down to $133.34. Also the 7" monster version is currently only $248. More than twice the mass of the 5" one.

Thanks for the heads-up! I have a couple of craigslist vises that work pretty well for me, but one of them doesn't swivel and the other is a cheap Chinese Wilton whose swiveling is... not the nicest. This would be a nice upgrade.
