This is a shop that my dad has been planning on building on his new place. The place is 4 acres that he is building not only his shop, but also a new house and a small 'farm' for his grandkids. So far he has fenced most of the place and bought some miniature horses and fainting goats. As soon as he closed on his old place, he had the pads for both the shop and house prepped. This shop is going to be 40x60 with a 16 foot peak and on both sides it will have 20x60 sheds that will be 12 foot high. It will have a drive in door on 3 sides, 2 walk doors, and it will buckskin color with a red roof. He is building a metal house at the same time with the same colors.
Here is the foreman making sure that all is going as planned:
The shop is going to be post frame and metal trusses. Here is when they started standing up the poles:
After the poles set up and the footings began being dug, more progress was made waiting in the way of trusses and lathing while the rain set in and the temperatures dropped:
Then came the top, still too cold and wet to pour concrete, but this did allow for the footings to be dug and all of the prep to be done
Then he finally got the call that they were going to pour concrete, even though it was pretty wet getting to it. He did have to get a pumper truck to pump it so that it wouldn't get stuck. But, it was so wet that the concrete trucks were backing in from the road and then this happened:
And after a 2 hour delay and a call to the wrecker company, they were back to work:
It has been a few days waiting on the concrete to completely set up and with the low temps, it seems to be taking longer. Today was the first day that they could get back to work since they poured the slab on Wednesday. Here is the latest pic from this afternoon:
I will update with pics as the build continues.
