I bought a bunch of old tools from a guy on Craigslist. He had a ton of old mechanics and body tools that I grabbed for $200. Then he shows me this old tool cart/box/seat. All of the tools and this were his great uncles who was a body man from the 40's-90's. I was drooling over it but he wouldn't budge. I offered him $150 and the wheels were turning in his head but he declined. He let me snap a few pics so I can try to find one elsewhere. I don't know what it is about it but I want one.

I had one show up near me about 3 years ago. I can't remember what he was asking. I ended up not buying it because it didn't seem practical to my use.
I use to buy stuff like this because of the "uniqueness". I have slowed that down recently and try to place the importance on my needs.

I made an offer he declined it. Realistically I am willing to go about $250 but I'm going to let him stew on it for a bit. I'm not just going to over pay because I want it. I figured I would look for another one first. Any idea when this thing was made? It looks 50's-60's to me.

I believe they are called rolling creeper stools. I saw them in Europe at some of the motorcycle shops, but the new versions have a different configuration with pull out drawers. I agree with your strategy. Sometimes if people think about it long enough they'll come to the realization they would rather have the cash. However, it could be quite awhile until you run into another one, if ever.
Exactly why I went as high as $150. Realistically, its an ornament for the garage that I MAY use. I just fell in love with it on sight. It has the perfect patina. I'm going to text him after the new year and see if he has an interest in selling it.

That's a neat little cart. I've been wanting to mount my top box on a short rolling cart so when working on a lawnmower I can do everything without getting up from my rolling seat.

the 2092a (and any of the large Facom tool boxes) can be a bit pricey after factoring in shipping from Europe. This one is around $950 + shipping from the East Coast.
You can buy it at Prime Tools in the UK for around $600....not sure what it would cost to ship it directly to you.

I bought a tatty one at at Autojumble ( swap meet) for £15 , struggled to sell it on eBay , got about £40 , they are ok but not heavy gauge steel like my Hazet or Stahlwille Rollmaster

I came across one at an auction about 2 years ago. During inspection, I opened the cart and played with it a bit and determined that it would not be practical for my use. That said, it was a very cool decoration so I did bid on it.
As it turns out, there were two other guys who ended up in a bidding war and the hammer dropped at $178. To me, that's about $128 more than it's worth.

Yeah that's a bit more than I'd want to spend. I bet for less than half that I could squeeze the older one out of the guy. It is a nice piece though. Thanks.
I'm resurrecting this post. The owner did contact me shortly after and I ended up buying it for $100, $50 less than I originally offered!!! It has been sitting in the corner for the past three years and I am contemplating selling it. Does anyone have any idea of the year it could be from? Does anyone have any idea what it could be worth? You probably already know this, but that board on top fits over the lower compartment when the box is opened so that you can sit down with your tools on either side of you.
As regards it's age, I saw a couple of these boxes over here (Ireland) in the late 1970's and they weren't new then. They weren't popular - too pricey, (despite us being close to France, so carriage costs would have been low).

Never seen the cart, but a forum member gifted me a FACOM tote of a similar design, and I did some major restoration work on it. (Obviously they liked the cantilever thing).
My only complaint is it is heavy. It's very cool, quite roomy, and compact for all it carries, but weighs a ton.
