I've got $25 in surprise points to burn, so looking around at Sears last night and from 10ft the new striker pry bars looked pretty good, didn't last close up. I didn't buy them or use them, so for all I know they "might" be great, BUT ...

The plastic handle isn't molded on, its pressed on with gaps on the shaft. It appears full length thru the handle, no idea how the striker is attached.

Finish was HF rough, including the tips, no grinding or other treatment on the tips.

I hate to say it but what they reminded me of were the cheaper pry bars HF got in a few years ago from India.

These the red handled ones they had for like $18 for a set of 3 on Black Friday? If so I got a set then and have held up great the past month at work. Made in USA to boot. Got them because my coenwell ones didn't have a striking end on them.

I bought a 3 pc set of those on sale, gave them as a gift. The numbers were just painted on the handles which im sure would wear off was my only complaint. I forget the code on them (edit: code P) but were made by Wilde. I have an older non strike 24" C-man made by Wilde, and that thing is tough.

I bought a set, they are good. For the price: They are excellent! First pleasant quality surprise I've got at Sears for a long time.

OT but if you don't have the 75T ratchets they're really nice. The 1/2" is around $17 right now, the 1/4" is $15. 3/8" must fall in the middle.

Sorry, I know you're looking at pry bars. I've personally not used these new ones, still have the previous rebadged Mayhews.

Good to know the quality is better than it looks, which is why I asked.

I looked the 1/4 ratchets over, but I've got some nice ones and I still may get one of the flex head HF, which seem about the same as the Craftsman's.

Spending $25 at Sears can be a lot more of a chore than it should be.

Looks a lot like my trusty old set of Craftsman pry bars except with the addition of a strike cap. LUV that "USA" on the handle.

Thanks for the heads-up about these. If they want to give me $10 off what's already a really good deal, I just couldn't pass it up.
