I was needing more space in the pole building and was planning of a loft project. Have summer/winter toys so I needed someplace to store the out of season toys. After seeing Ray916MN's Pallet racked Motorcycle Garage I got to thinking this would work for my setup. Figured out what I would need in pallet racking and started shopping. I ended up getting brand new racking cheaper than I was finding used on CL. Getting started I decided to cover the walls so I called up my supplier (I have a cabinet shop) and he came up with 80 sheets of 5/8" maple plywood that were mis-sanded (to thin) and I got them for $8 a sheet. The racking for my setup (9-14' uprights and 24 - 10' beams) ended up costing $1425. The beams I used are rated at 5000lbs per pair and each loft section consists of 6 beams. Each section has 2x6 stringers between the beams on 24" centers and then covered with 1 1/8" T&G plywood. The loft beams were set to the same height as the top locks on my lift so that things could just be rolled off onto the lift. The ramps are put on to bridge the gap between the lift and the loft. I have the Sandrail stored for winter and the Jetski/Trailer will go on the other loft for winter storage and in the summer the Sleds will go up on the loft. This still gives be the bottom sections for vehicle storage. Everything worked great !!
