Can it be lowered very slowly under weight? The one I got from HF dropped down too fast, no matter how slow I turned the screw to release the pressure.

Yes, this jack is much better quality than the HF ones, and very light. Has smooth operation and you can fine tune the pressure release. Not like the HF ones were it's either all or none on the pressure relief.

Did you fill it up with hydraulic fluid when you bough it? A lot of people skip this step, I know I did lol there is a youtube video on how to do it, if you are like me.
after I did this, it was a HUGE difference in drop speed and lift :rocker:

Thank you for your comment! The HF was exactly as you described: ALL or NOTHING :)

I have it for several years and I think the fluid was full when I bought it. I'll check again. Thanks!

^^^not better than the harbor freight daytona floor jack

X2^^^^^^ I suggest: Spend a little more money and buy the HF Daytona Yellow Jack.... You won't regret it!! This HF Daytona jack is a nice jack for the money and HF will gladly take it back if you don't like it and refund 100% of your hard earned money.
The COSTCO jack is a good jack and two friends of mine have them and love theirs PLUS if you buy the COSTCO jack and don't like it you can always return it....... HELL, Buy both jacks and return the one you don't like after you "test drive" them "side by side" since you have nothing to lose.

That jack is also twice the price @ $199.99...I don't think that is a fair comparison, and that comparison would be true for 99% of things out there that are twice the price. And you shouldn't have to top off the oil in a brand new jack.

All I am saying is, just like anything you buy at HF, it hit and miss. Wouldn't buy another jack from there ever again. Every time I jack my car up I cringe, when I use the costco one I know, or at least it feels better, that it won't give me a hick up.

I've already bent multiple metal pieces on varies car/toys that I have because the darn thing just drops off the face of the earth when I try to finesse it down.

You can get the daytona for the same price as the arcan.

When I purchased mine from Costco almost 5 years ago I also purchased the HF one and took them home and put them both to the test side by side or I raised several of my cars back to back. It did not take long for me to decide that the HF one was going back, had no issues with the $99 Arcan :)

So keep in mind we are talking $99 vs $180 for the Daytona, I am talking about the comparable $100 HF jack NOT the Daytona!. Not apples to apples here guys and girls!

It may be apples to oranges but you get a far superior jack for just an additional $81.00. Most of the time, you have to pay more for better quality.

I have one and use it for my Ford Explorer and Honda minivan. Works great, no problems. Seems to have good control when lowering too and goes up pretty fast.

Not sure what else to say. It is a jack, it makes things go up, and lets them come down. It also looks classy if that helps.

I have had one for a year or two now and it has worked very well. I use it on three suvs and four cars (including a lowered sports car) and it handles all of them no problem. That being said, the HF jack looks interesting.

A lot of good reviews on that Daytona Jack. What's impressive is a three year warranty at Harbor Freight. All the other HF jacks are bordering on disposable with a 90 day warranty.

I don't think HF could afford a 3 year warranty without doing some decent engineering.

Of course, Costco has the edge because of their liberal return policy.

The bad part is the HF doesn't match my garage color scheme. :(

Glad to hear everyone else seems to like the Arcan jack too. I have had two for years (different locations) and just bought a third one, so I can have two at home. My 20 yr-old jack has been leaking and you can't beat $95 for a new jack. I think they are pretty awesome.

I bought an Arcan XL35 at Northern and I'm really happy with it. It's $130 and you can use a $20 off coupon. Low profile and it goes up to over 21 inches.
