FWIW, After hours of research, I've found the mothership for those little flat spring clips which retain the friction drawer slides used on so many boxes; Matco, NAPA, Proto, Craftsman, Lumidor and finally Waterloo. Nearly all the boxes in the US are actually made by Waterloo. go to http://www.waterlooindustries.com/ Service Parts Phone:1-800-833-4405 and they'll sell them direct for $1.09 each plus $2 shipping, so get lots of extras.

They are also available from sears parts direct for twice the price.

thnx, jack vines

That part number comes up "No Results Found" on the Waterloo site. Additional searching on the Waterloo site came up with nothing for these clips.

Darn, I thought I'd finally found some for my Matco boxes. I've been looking for about 10 years!!
Every Matco distributor that I've met has said "Sure, I'll get you some. How many do you want?". Then comes a lot of hem-hawing to avoid telling me that they really aren't available.

Apparently they are available from Sears Parts, http://www.ereplacementparts.com/slide-spring-p-1016033.html for $4.39 ea. plus shipping.
Frickin ouch! But, if they"re the only game in town...

Yep, call waterloo. I ordered a few back in March(?:headscrat) for an old matco tool box. A little over $1 each, plus $3 shipping on the entire package. Much cheaper than Mac, matco, kennedy and craftsman. While you are on the phone, waterloo also carries most common keys for ~$3. Just FYI if you need one.

Just say "little black slide clip" and they will be like "Yep, you need......" :lol_hitti I think they sell a lot of them.

Just an update for everyone, I just emailed Matco about those clips in hopes that they can point us all in the right direction for some replacements! I'll keep everyone updated!

I called Waterloo Customer Service (Main # on their website). Part Number is "Little black clip thingys that attach to friction slides on a tool box".
They know exactly what your talking about and can find them immediately with that part number listed above. :)

Cost is just barely over $1 each plus $3 shipping. They said I'll get mine in about 3 days.

Bad news from Matco guys,

Originally the rep i emailed was going to hook it up big time. Sending me 6 bags of 10 each for FREE.

A few days later he emailed me saying that they no longer get them/manufacturer no longer makes them because they haven't been used on a Matco box for 8 years.

Looks like Waterloo is currently the best option.

Ntrouble, what kind of box do you have? 80s? 90s?

Just got off the phone with this company, and they knew what I was talking about, but new year price increases, make this item 2.80 now. So in regards to this, Happy New Years to everyone who might need some of these clips.....

Thanks for keeping this post Up and going. Great find to repair an old Napa tool box I found. I just spoke to Christina at Waterloo and the price is still $2.80/each but now you only have to order 10 for the $1.50/each price. I needed 5 ($14) so I went ahead and ordered 10 ($15) for spares. Shipping is $4.00 and should ship out tomorrow (1-10-17).

I make my own out of the clips on a 3/8" socket rail. Pull the clip off, flaten it with a hammer, cut it to size, center punch a hole for a pop rivet, drill the hole and install it with a pop rivet. Probably more than a $1 worth of work but this method works well and I have the parts available. I've done a half dozen this way.

and when you are done, the leftover rail can be screwed to a wall or something and you can hang the little red akro bins from them...helps offset the 99cents they cost at HF...:)

I got them from Waterloo. I would not be discouraged if they are not on the home page. That is undoubtedly where Sears gets them. Considering Sears poor parts support I can't concieve of them going to another supplier to make a part that the original manufacturer no longer makes. Just call Waterloo. These are actually a crappier second generation clip.. The first Craftsman/ Waterloo clips had had another fold so that you could lift the end of the clip,to release the drawer, using just your finger. This clip has nothing to grab so now you have to pry it up with a screw driver. I have both and had to replace the nicer ones with these.

Keeping this thread alive: update, June 16, 2017, I just got off the phone with Waterloo, pricing for these clips were offered at $2.80 each, or $1.50 for ten or more. Base shipping is now $5.-, so for $20.- I will be receiving a bag of ten of them in a week or so. Worth it.
