If they were sold in a US Sears, they're 80's era stuff - late 80's, I think?

No, they sell a similar ratchet currently in Canada, though; but it has a QR feature that those older ones didn't...

I have those ratchets as well. Had to have been early 90's when I picked them up. Came in a socket set.
The newer ones have the QR and the square end will twistoff if you use a ummmm pipe to help you out
