Been wanting a lift for a long time but did not want anything permanently mounted in my garage. I found this, a single post portable lift, got it delivered and assembled it last week. This piece of equipment has exceeded my expectations and is exactly what I was looking for. It will lift any vehicle I have, I can move it and use it anywhere in the shop when I am done it just slides under a car.

No more crawling around on a cold floor for me...

i'm sure it is engineered well, and is a nice piece,...but, i'd have a brown stain in my pants standing under a car with that lift

I thought the same but after seeing how well built this thing is and playing with it for a few days with different cars on it I have no problem being under it.

I will be getting a couple under hoist jackstands just for some more stability before I start wrenching on anything though.

It is a Kernel MSC-6klp

It was $2600, no tax and $297 to ship. You defiantly need a tow motor to get it off the truck and some kind of hoist to assemble it. Shipping weight was 1850 lbs.

Made in China of coarse but very well built, nice welds, heavy iron, large lifting chain (no cables). The hydraulic unit is made in USA

This is the place I bought it from. They were great deal with.

How would pulling a transmission under that thing be? That looks like the hot ticket!

That was my thought too. For what I'd want it for, it covers too much of the under body. But, if it works for the OP, and it makes him happy, then I'd call it a good buy.

"...Bring me my brown pants!"

I am chicken-sit enough with my 2-post, no way I would get under that. Nope.

Well that settles it then, it's Chinese, single post, 2 replies so far say it's scary.

Shame on the OP for even troubling the rest of us with such a horrid mental picture. Woe to you OP for posting something that works just fine for you, without considering the feeling of the rest of us.

What us the weight capacity of this style lift?

Pic 7 shows 6000 lbs.

First thing I thought of was pulling transmissions. Looks like there is room. Cool lift, if it has spacers for the pads it might clear drag car type exhaust/headers. Largest car I'd lift with that here is 3000 lbs, so that's half capacity. Yes, I still get jitters getting under the new two post. Not sure why, the Mustang has been up on it for 2 weeks. You'd get used to it I'm sure. I know what my problem would be - my head is a log way from my feet and I'd be tripping over the legs all the time.

Love it,
I was looking at these a few months ago, I have a small garage with a low ceiling so I'm limited, this might be perfect for me.
How high is the collumn?

I like the storage aspects but most of the cars I work on I think I would be scared to try on that. Usually what I've used lifts for is pulling the engine or transmission out of a 60's car. Do they have a larger version?

I didn't see a larger version. The Eagle 6K looks to me to be about the same with a different brand.

yeah, i dont think i am man enough to stand under that and do any significant work to the car above me.

maybe if the base was wider . . . . . . . i can't imagine explaining how it tipped over . . . .

A former shop around here had one of those. It worked just fine. Didn't look like something I'd enjoy being under, but he used the hell out of it every day.

while i didnt read the text in the first url, i will note all the images are the lift being used for storage, not for working under the vehicle.

i did read the limited text in the second url, and it doesn't mention working under the car, and the images dont seem to include it either.

i would be concerned about storing expensive cars like that if i lived in an earthquake zone . . . .

Is it ALI certified and lift tested?

For my clumsy nature, this lift looks like a bag full of trip hazard, waiting for a place to happen. :wtf:

This lift is NOT ALI/ETL Certified...It's manufactured by a company in China and sold under various brand names here in the USA> The importer is a company called "Tuxedo Lift" out of TX.

While it's not Certified, it does seem to be a decent product, considering it's uniqueness. My biggest concern for customers with this is the very high drive-over clearance (I believe it's 5-1/2 or 6") where the arm comes out from the post.

Capacity on that lift is only 6,000 lbs, so it's really not designed for any type of heavy duty usage. For unique home storage situations it has a small market.

What Aahz said is correct about the origin and distribution.

This lift is the latest model and is a "Low Profile" version, it has removable ramps, adjustable telescoping lift pads and the drive over clearance is less than 4".

You do not have to drive over it, if you have the room you can just put the car where you want and slide the lift under.

I am 5'11" and can stand completely upright under the car. With the addition of two under hoist jack stands properly positioned it is as stable as any 2 post lift.

As far as the base being a tripping hazard, I guess if you worked under cars all day it may get annoying but I don't care... It sure beats crawling around on my hands and knees on the floor.

For working on wheels, brakes, brake lines, exhaust, oil changes, this thing will be great.

With the lifting column on one side it leaves the opposite side of the car completely clear which is great for body work or anything else you want to do to the side of the car unobstructed.

I used it last night to fix the exhaust and check a wheel bearing on my daily driver.... Awesome.

Will put the truck on it this weekend and post pics.

Interesting product.

As far as the trip hazard- if you wanted to, you could fill in around the foot with lumber or foam and plywood to make a flat walking surface..

some are scared of their own shadow
some have no clue about lifts

Logic and Darwin would agree that it is not unreasonable to be scared of a non ALI certified and non-tested lift. Testing Strength Of 2 Post Lift

You are just taking somebodies word that it is good... the word of the guy selling the lift, the lift made in another continent.

Much different than buying a hammer or tool box at Harbor freight.
