Special Notes: Sometimes I use plastic Dip while I try my best not to cover and brands or/model #'s sometimes it can not be helped, as the wording went down the handle. (I have a better picture be sure and see the links).
Of note I am just giving a simple comparison to a modern pliers (not vintage) and not to be confused as vintage for this story.
The AA web-site lists the date as 1931 (from an earlier catalog, I would guess), I found from GJ member twertsy's web-site a 1937 catalog, (be sure and see the link).
Last few notes , as my Mother used to say "the more things change, the more they stay the same" or in French something like "Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose". I thought you might enjoy a vintage look from the 1930's compared to one from today's look.
I could not locate any patent information (Herbrand had at least 5 patents but not for this pliers), I did list a modern patent in case anyone is interested.
From the 1937 catalog was a list price of $2.30 and it was made in satin Nickel finish. "The positive biting grip of the 10 to 1 power MultiDuty gets pipe, fittings and rods, tough and battered nuts, whether square, hex or rounded. Corroded and rusted nuts come easy with this amazing tool which replaces many wrenches and several pair of pliers. Ten times more gripping power then an ordinary plier".
