Anyone have, or familiar with AT&G Company hand tools?

I picked up a nice #4 Phillips screwdriver today that's marked AT&G Company, Inc. But it's also marked "W.Germany" and has a hard plastic "ergo" type handle that makes me think it was made by Wiha or some other company from der Faterland.

Google search didn't turn up much, except that AT&G was based in Arkansas, but was bought out by the parent company of Vise Grip (before they were bought out by Irwin??).

This screwdriver is a beast! It's very heavy, and the #4 tip is impressive, plus the hex shaft with a larger hex at the base of the handle for extra leverage!!

Also picked up a USA Made Stanley that's pretty nice. It kinda reminds me of the German made Mac screwdrivers, the yellow part of the handle is hard plastic, and the grey part is slightly rubbery.

Google search doesn't reveal much...this little tidbit is interesting: see second paragraph:

Further search shows that AT&G may stand for Austin Tool & Grinding, however, I think that may be an entirely seperate company.

Either way, it looks like a brute of a screwdriver.

I know this has been years since you discussed, but my Dad worked for them from the 70’s until 1999 when the company was bought out. The company was based in Detroit and had a plant in Lexa, AR. My dad went to engineering school in the 70’s. We returned home to Lexa AR for him to work in the plant there. This is where he and my mom were from. The plant it was in was an old ice plant and was right next to my grandmother’s house. My grandfather helped with the conversion of the ice plant into a machining plant. I found this thread because I was looking to see if I could find any that were for sale. My dad passed away in 2012 and my sister and I split up the screwdrivers between us.
