bubinga is going to get mad at me for posting this, but select Home Depot locations are putting out multiple Tool Storage Chests / Cabinets at record-level low prices, ranging from Dewalt to Husky to as well as Milwaukee.

A recount of what happened today. I was just at Home Depot today to purchase a combinaton switch outlet from Leviton (a few dollars). Then walking along the front main aisle (where cashiers, CS Desk, and Self-checkout machines were), I stumbled upon tool chests. First thoughts--I told myself, "Its not much of a deal, probably in the triple digits"

Then I noticed something peculiar, where the he!! were the price tags--this was absolutely unusual. I got a hold of an associate (almost 8:30 PM), and he was curious as well as to why the prices were not listed. I went ahead and had him painstakingly do a price check on each box, and wait for it (scroll down)

Milwaukee 46" Top Chest--Clearance $50 (no joke)

I even was doubtful and shocked :shocking: I asked the associate to check again--and sure enough it was $50. I wasn't willing to haul the dam* thing, but there I was--swapped the card, tipped the loader, and off I drove. They had 3 more in stock. To play my cards right, as the top chests were stacked one on top of the other, I chose to go with the box at the top most to increase my chances of not getting something damaged.

All the boxes were intact and sealed, one was partially torn though.

It was not worth the risk, and I'll admit this was an impulse buy, now I need to figure out how to integrate it with my ecosystem. I'm out of room, but I have the 46" Husky 9-Drawer (from Black Friday)--I'm thinking about removing the wood and placing the Milwaukee on top. The Milwaukee is 200lbs--will this idea work?

Anyway, back to deal, get it while you can, and bubinga--sorry to bring this up. :p

Current Online Price $299
Clearance Price $50 (not a price mistake as they were eager to get rid of them--some locations don't like to stock tool chests for some odd reason--probably because of lack of demand)

Um, we have been talking about these tops for several weeks now, plus it's posted on SDs. Lucky to find one now.

I didn't know that, I thought you all were talking about the bottom cabinet going half price off--wasn't aware the top chest going this low either :D

Does anyone here have it currently stacked over the Husky 46"?

Damn, wish I could get my hands on one of those for $50. Unfortunately I highly doubt either of my two local Home Depots will have any at that price, and I don't know where I'd put it since I don't have space for it, or a base to put it on.

I'm literally laughing at this one

Does anyone know if this will fit the bottom 46" Husky 9-Drawer Rolling Tool Cabinet?

Do most folks buy as many deals as they can? It reminds me of the people at black friday loading a cart with 20$ shop vacs. What you going to do with that many? Resell? Store? I could have bought 8 tree trimmers the other day for 8 cents, but dont need 8, figure others might like. Seems not cool.

I bought only one, but if I found more, I would have probably bought one more to reserve for family / friends. It wouldn't be free---charge them a few bucks more for the logistics and handling  Definitely not reselling though. I wonder how much it costed Home Depot to transport these on a palate from Vietnam to US. :D

How are you all organizing your tools into this chest (top one particularly)?

Welcome to econ101. Every single business does this, including HD. How is this "not cool"?!

As the end consumer, you are only buying it because its cheap, not really a demand for it, but because you can by 6 for the price of one.

I just dont think in my lifetime I would use 6 of them, unless I needed them, and then in that case I would have already got them.

In the back of my mind I see this guy buying them to make a profit off HD clearance Items. Either way, joe schmoe who is loyal to HD is not getting a fair chance to get a good deal every once and a while because of a hoarder or re seller.

Im guilty, I bought a dewalt top because it was cheap, but didnt wipe out the store.

You ****! I did find a $100 Dewalt top box, but would have preferred a Milwaukee.

i guess i dont see this as an issue. joe has just the same chance at getting the deal as any hoarder or reseller. HD is making a profit off of joe, hoarder or reseller, depending on who purchases the product in store. plus, the reseller is helping joe SAVE money (boxes are going for $200 on ebay per your post).

i sold a box to joe that was told by HD in store they do not sell the top box by itself when he went in that morning. he was going to purchase online for $325 after tax. i actually helped joe SAVE $85 by selling him a box. gave him a good deal that day, i made a little for tools i am saving up for to purchase at HD, everyone walked away happy...:rocker:

I guess its a mental thing. You always think the guy that is hoarding on black friday or when a deal is present as a DB, and in the beck of your mind are pissed because it would have been nice to get one of the deals, but someone else decided they will have 6 of them and resell at a price higher than the deal.

I guess I will start buying as many deals as I can and see if I can make a bit of cash instead of posting here for others.

None left in the Atlanta area according to Home Depot.

Not True. Bought these at 3:30pm this afternoon. Both of these were the correct single items with corresponding skus. And with these individual pieces being part of a set, there will be cases of a store missing a top or bottom, OR someone managing to convince a employee or just doing it themselves, taking a single item through checkout and getting them to ring up the item number vs set number etc. There will be some still around for those that are either Lucky, spend a bunch of time looking or both. My local store did not have the bottom for weeks and then it appeared on the floor by the pro desk about 2 days ago. Cant believe it didnt sell until this afternoon.

I'd like replace the Bottom Husky and get a Bottom Milwaukee, but it looks to be the same size / dimensions, I'll just stack the Milwaukee on top.

My buddy cleared out Atlanta 2 weeks ago. He's cool...

I debated on getting the 5 from conyers, but storage was an issue. Someone discovered them though, they sat in the rafters for quite a while.

Everything you buy from someone or someplace is higher than what they paid for it. Or else whats the point? If you know someone on CL paid 3x less for an item they're selling and it bothers you then don't buy it. If its a good deal and you don't want to put in the time to get the same deal, buy it.

This. I've spent too much time and gas finding deals, if I were to sell anything I found , it would be at a nice premium.

what?! I thought you just call the store and tell them you saw it on garage journal/slickdeals and price match it and order as many as you want.
