Back before I got my lift I wanted a way to set a vehicle on the wheels, but lifted up off the ground.

I had a set of wooden ramps my Grandfather had given me back in the 1980's.
And I had a bunch of 2x material and 1/2" plywood left over from other projects.

So I built these lift boxes... They are screwed together and are hell for stout.

Why not buy taller jack stands?

It's all good.

For me, I prefer to design / build things. In this case, as I said previously, the materials were left-over from a deck project, and from sheathing the interior of my shop.

I have some very tall jack stands. But for certain types of work, having the vehicle supported by the wheels gives maximum under car clearance and is preferred.

Or put another way..

.... Gives you a little more room under the car if you don't need to remove the wheels, seems like jack stands are always in the way when your moving around under the car.
