My mind sometimes works in funny ways, if you asked me a question like what did you eat for lunch my mind goes blank, if you show me one of my tools and say where did you buy it my mind is sharp as a tack.
Take the following story of the Delaware punches & chisels, I know that I bought the set 7 years ago from a fellow GJ member (see link) and I remember him telling us that they were WWII surplus from an old hardware store.

I thought you might enjoy a little History of the company that made those tools.
The company was started in 1918 in Wilmington, Delaware by Sylvan Newton Levy, he was born in Owensboro, Ky., Nov. 14, 1888 and date of death 1967; He was the son of Henry N. Levy & Henrietta Lejeune.
Slyvan Married Phoebe Elsie Benjamin (unknown date) and they had a son Sylvan N. Levy Jr. born in 1915 and he died in 2002.
This much we know, but I am a little shaky on the trademark time line of a name change to Delsteel; I found a Filing date of Jan. 26, 1948 and a registration date of Dec. 28, 1948. Delsteel was a brand name that Delaware tool Steel Corp. used in their catalog.
In 2000 Delsteel was acquired by American Pneumatic and production will still continue at the Wilmington, Del. site.
I have a ton of links, a few pictures and best of all many special thanks to two GJ members that helped with this story; first off to GJ member bczygan for all his help in finding names and dates for this story and special thank to GJ member Packard V8 in selling his vintage War Surplus Delaware tools to me so many years ago.
