Tekton Air Hoses - The New Goodyear?

Hello all,

I'm in the market for an air hose, and based on what I've read on here, Goodyear air hoses are some of the most popular due to their durability (in the past). However, there are some more recent reviews on Amazon pointing to their quality going downhill.

This lead me to do some digging. I don't remember where I saw this (wish I would've bookmarked it when I ran across it a couple days ago), but I ran across a post that said that the Goodyear name is being licensed out to various companies (which tells me that they'll be of varying quality, and to stay away).

Interestingly, I ran across a product listing on Amazon for Continental Contitech air hose (sounds like Goodyear air hoses are now Continental Contitech?), that stated "This item is no longer manufactured by Michigan Industrial Tools." So, I Googled "Michigan Industrial Tools"... And it brings up Tekton.

So... If Goodyear/Continental Contitech air hoses used to be produced by Michigan Industrial Tools (who appears to be Tekton), does that mean that Tekton air hoses are produced by the original manufacturers of the well-made Goodyear hoses?

Thanks!

Continental Contitech purchased the hose operations of Goodyear but can not use the Goodyear name. Contitech continues to manufacture high quality hose in the US and overseas.

My guess is any hose currently manufactured with the Goodyear name on it is cheap Chinese product.

My guess is MIT was assembling Goodyear hoses so they listed themselves as the manufacturer.

I saw Goodyear made in USA hoses in Northern Tool a couple of months ago. I can't speak to the quality though. I have a blue Goodyear hose that is probably 15 years old and still looks great. Also have a flexilla that I have had for about a year. It replaced a HF? China hose that only lasted a few years before it started splitting.

Flexilla are made in China too. I opted for a Blubird Avagard for my new hose real. It was pricey for import but quality is actually excellent (they're based in and manufacture in India). They also have a rep on here who gives product away for people to field test and leave feedback so that swayed me toward them as well.

I have hated the Goodyear hoses I bought. The Pliovic never layed flat on the floor. The rubber ones needed to be stretched and broken in. And then they broke when things fell on them. I find that Craftsman black rubber hoses are very nice. I think they may share the same OEM as the Speedaire ones you can get from Grainger which I also own. They are a bit thicker than Goodyear but are light weight and seem to work reasonably well. I have been using one for 2+ years and apart from one failed crimped connection which I replaced with a barbed fitting and hose clamp, I have no complaints.

I have all us made Tekton hoses and one good year hose that is about 8 years old. I had a couple of flex ills hoses and I got rid of them. I didn't like working with them. I really love my Tekton hybrid hoses made in usa too.

Continental (Contitech) is a German company and they make awesome tires, especially cycling tires.
