Unfortunately I'm not in michigan! I was a couple weeks ago though haha. Thanks for the offer.
Haha, I swear I have been posting pics along the way. Maybe not the best pics but I have posted them. I do know the difference between a screw and a bolt, but to me this sucker looks like a screw and acts like a screw, not a bolt. I have used all sorts of screws and bolts before. I was
not aware that a machine screw is considered a bolt.
Time sert looks even cooler than helicoil but damn...it's expensive. And why is it unusual that I'd know a person with a tap and die set? I think I know several. I will probably just end up getting it myself since it seems like a good thing to have. I dont have any experience with machining or working with metal, thats for damn sure. I think I've answered this previously but...(until i get the chance to take it apart I wont know for sure) there's no way I can drill all the way through and secure it with a nut.
I asked what the next size up is because I have no idea what the actual next size up is. I guess I can google around. If that is too large (theres not too
much room, that I can see) it wont work. It may actually just work fine with one screw but I dont want to try it. I have a feeling that it would eventually come loose which would just destroy several hundred bucks worth of burrs instantly. I dont know if I trust myself to use a tap and die (or use it correctly anyway) so you've got me there lol.
I guarantee I'm not winding you guys up. I genuinely appreciate your replies and read and consider each one. THANK YOU!
