I noticed some complaints about the games being mixed into the Sears Deals thread. So I thought this might help.

Post methods to get free points, such as sweeps games. Or methods to earn bonus points, such as offers that require more complex steps than simply purchasing a Sears/Kmart item.

Sweeps

  1. The original method of playing their games. They vary with types of prizes (e.g. points, products, trips), methods to enter, max # of entries allowed, max # of wins allowed, etc. The official rules for each game can answer a lot of questions.
  2. Some games allow you to enter once each day, and some may only allow one single entry for the whole game period. For daily plays, a SYW day is from 12AM central to 11:59PM central.
  3. Many allow additional methods for entering, such as codes and social media sharing (Facebook and Twitter membership not really necessary for it to apply). A code for additional entry can be sent by email after you play and lose a game, or check this member's helpful page:
    MAGIC Sweeps Links & Codes
  4. Sweeps points last for 14 days, but some larger point prizes are provided with a longer expiration date. If your points expire 6/15/18, then they are good until 11:59 PM central time on that day.

Xtra tab

  1. This addition to sweeps is full of spin wheels that reset each day. Reminds me of the lotto scratch-off tickets display at the gas station.
  2. Read the rules for a wheel to see the max # of times you can win on it.
  3. Ads that have nothing to do with SYW sweeps can be mixed into this section.

Wild Wins games:

  1. Use the SYW website or a mobile app to access the Xtra section of their sweeps, and maybe one of their random Wild Wins games will have appeared.
  2. The WW games last for one hour. Their headquarters is in the central time zone, so the times in the rules are in CT.
  3. The lower the prize amount, the more prizes to hand out. For example, a $5 WW game can have little as 500 prizes available, but a $1 WW game can have 5,000 prizes.

$5,000 Big Red Wheel
  1. Spin it once each day, but you'll usually win only 5 to 15 cents.
  2. They've been continually renewing this game throughout the year, so it seems it never expires.

For Win It!:
  1. To create more confusion, SYW created this separate Win It! mobile app with games unavailable through SYW. https://winitapp.com/

NOTE: Although I've used SYWR for several years, I don't know why one person gets $3 in surprise points for a minimum $100 purchase and another person gets $20 in surprise points with no minimum purchase. It's a mystery that only their programmers can explain. Check your SURPRISE POINTS.

Any suggestions for what needs to be in the opening post?

Though, I don't want to write a novel.

They apparently have algorithms that are based on your previous shopping to determine point offers. With that said, I think their algorithms are really fubared up good

Considering that a VIP member who spends real money can get surprise points that are god-awful compared to those given to a member who only likes to spend free points.....I'd say it's pretty much FUBAR.

1) assume sears is working in a pre 2000 world: conversations between members is limited to local populations, which will tend to be likeminded. you neighbors are probably in the same situation you are, and have the same habits.

2) assume sears has perfect understanding of your spending habits at their store. i admit that while they have all the information, they may lack the skills to understand it.

3) assume that they are smart enough to try random changes to small populations and note the effects.

i know that assuming these things is asking a lot, but . . .

a) they might have determined that people who buy a lot dont need to be incentivized. they are going to buy the same amount no matter how much discount they get. therefore, they want to keep it to a minimum to maximize profits.

b) those N$ off N$ may not be as random as you think. they may tend to occur in periods that, historically, you spent a lot. they assume you have fallen out of the habit, and they are trying to seduce you into coming back, even if it is online. getting you on the web site is half the battle. once there, you might buy something.

c) just because this small population keeps the purchases to a small increment above the necessary level (and we are a small population), it may be that the average person spends 5 times N$ with a N$ off N$ coupon.

of course, that means they need to improve the code to determine that i am not responding as i should, and either try something different, like 50$ off 200$, or decide i am beyond repair (as so many others have already) and offer me small deals (or ignore me all together).

$5,000 Big Red Wheel, good info I didn't know about before. Thanks.

As far as surprise points I bought a $230 push mower from them in June and still get garbage.

I just saw today I have $15 off $15 in "Home" (actually only a few sub categories in home)... *rolleyes* Of course... I never get anything decent for tools section, but the one time I get a good dollar off it's for something I can't find a single thing I need...

Also worth mentioning is perhaps the Magic Sweeps pages that has links to new games and all the extra codes (to get you more entries)...

Also you can click the links for Facebook & Twitter even if you don't have an account. Once it pops up the new window just click close, then click the link to play the game.

Thanks for setting up this thread. I think that I have at least $100 worth of free Craftsman tools from Doohickey's posts.

$1 Wild Wins game up, 12:00 Eastern

I have won at least he same, if not more points from the other 'sweeps' or 'xtras' than the 'Wild Win.' and those other contests are on there all the time. I'm not sure why the 'wild wins' ends up getting more attention? I get the free money part, but seems to be the same payout over time as the other methods, without the need to wait for the hourly give aways

with that, im headed off to go spin (or hit skip). thanks

It's all just random. Though the more games you play the better your chances... I've noticed the 1hr games pay anywhere from $1 to $5...

Apology if this is considered chat. I thought I would ask here since others may have the same questions. I received this email "We want to award you with 50% back in points on your next tool purchase".

Members get 50% back in points (up to $25 back in points) when you purchase select Tools at Sears. Offer valid on Tools items sold by Sears. Offer excludes all clearance, closeout and Hot Buy items. See store associates for details. Offer valid in-store and online. Points to be awarded 1 day after transaction and expire 14 days after receipt. Purchase requirement before taxes and after other discounts and must be made in a single transaction. MEMBER DETAILS: Members earn points on qualifying purchases, excluding sales taxes and other fees. Extra points are inclusive of, and not in addition to, any base points earned on qualifying purchases. When extra point offers are combined, total points earned will be less than the combined point totals for each individual offer. Subject to full program terms available at shopyourway.com

Link to the detail:

Has anyone use this before with the points? So lets say I bought a $25 tool X. I paid $5 with money, and $20 using my points.

How much do I receive in points based on this promo? 50% of $5 = $2.5 in points or 50% of $25 = $12.5 in points? The line in bold "Extra points are inclusive of, and not in addition to, any base points earned on qualifying purchases." is that means $12.5 or $2.5 ?

I believe the part that manages the SYW site is in Israel, so I've always wondered if they also interpret the data on us American members.

a) they might have determined that people who buy a lot dont need to be incentivized. they are going to buy the same amount no matter how much discount they get. therefore, they want to keep it to a minimum to maximize profits.
This strategy was all right when the VIP perks were great, but the VIP program has pretty much gone downhill over the past year. All my friends and family members that were VIP hardly shop anymore at Sears or Kmart.

I never found it easy to search through, but added the Magic link to OP. She puts in a lot of work, but I wish she'd move to using something other than the SYW site.

If you see a percent (%), then it's always been your money multiplied by the %.

$5 money x 50% = $2.50 in points. Nothing back for using the $20 in points.

The % back offer doesn't apply to the money used for tax payment.

EDIT: I find that checking out with the Review Order screen (on the desktop sites) is more accurate about how much I'll earn in points.

Been blowing sear's money like crazy. If you have the same surprise points and want ideas on what to order post up. Keep a tool in your shopping cart and play the sweeps randomly is all I did to receive these.

(3) $4 off $4 anything including clearances
$15 off $20 sporting goods/fitness
$6 off $6 anything
$8 off $8 bed bath
$25 off $30 sporting goods/fitness

I have a $15 off $15 in bedding, bath or small kitchen appliance that expires today, plus I have like $13 in points (need to do games, probably pick up a couple more bucks)... Going to browse later and see what I can buy...

FYI, it's Wild Wins Wednesday! Get your 5 spins + usually lots of WW during the day.
