Interesting but only 12cfm. $1200.
True, you can get a two stage 60 gallon Quincy that will put out a little over 15 CFM for the same price, but at the cost of a lot more noise and space taken up.

I'm planning to get one of these and put it in the utility room in my basement and then pipe it into the garage. 12 CFM is plenty for my needs

12 CFM is not bad at all. Since it's rated 100% duty cycle, In my opinion that's better than 15CFM at 50% cycle.

If I could just tee it in with my vertical 80G then I'd be sand blasting all day..

however, seeing that they needed a filter to separate the oil, how oil free is the air that makes it into the tank?

Which company is making these scroll air compressors for Eastwood?
Reputation? Warranty service? Longevity?
I want to believe, but my Dad told me never to buy the first of anything... :dunno:

If it was closer to 18cfm I'd be interested, but at 1200 is just assume get an Eatin polar air 80 Gallon 2 stage. Eaton's piston compressors are very quiet

These compressors are our own design that are being made by our own manufacturer. We've spec'ed out individual components of this compressor, had a prototype made, and then changed and modified the prototype from there to hit our performance and price needs.

We will be stocking replacement and maintenance parts for the product and backing it with a 2 year no-hassle warranty. Beyond the warranty we will be still offering service and tech support for the compressors.

Upon delivery from our factory our engineers will also be filling each compressor with oil and test-running them before they go on the truck to ship to you. This is another way we are assuring that you get a product that's ready to run your shop for years to come.

Feel free to email our engineers for the quickest response directly for tech or service questions. You can reach them at: [email protected]

Hope that helps,

Matt/EW

Will it run the Eastwood HVLP guns? How would it handle air drills or sanders? There's lots of air hungry tools that need serious volumes of air.

The unit does look solid, and could be set up easily in a garage. I'm impressed with the sound, but the fact it has to pretty much keep going non-stop to keep up is an issue. An air compressor forced to run nearly all the time isn't as efficient as one that only has to cycle on and off now and then with long periods of time between while it uses air in the tank.

I think your questions are easily answered by comparing the specs on equipment you want to use to the rated output of the compressor. No doubt you will be disappointed in any compressor, regardless of compressor technology, if the rated capacity can't keep up with your tools.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say it has to pretty much keep going non-stop to keep up. Are you saying it has to run constantly because of the scroll technology? The Eastwood compressor has a 100% duty cycle but if it has to run constantly you probably haven't bought a big enough compressor for your needs. Whether it's scroll technology or not, you'll still have an issue.

I don't see a problem with something just because it's made in china. the issue is did the parent brand insist on quality control. I have some made in china gear that's absolutely solid, and some that's absolutely garbage.

as for scroll tech, it seems mature. we have a triple 5hp scroll system (staged/rotated) at work that replaced a working QT-15. it is much more pleasant to be in the room with than the Quincy was.

The air compressor is made in China to Eastwood's specifications. We do all validation and testing of products here in the USA to ensure that they meet our exacting standards
