So I'm pretty excited. My garage just got finished. So far I've just been writing checks but now everything else is up to me. Me and an electrician friend are going to do the wiring and then I'll insulate it and hang the drywall.
This forum has been a great resource as I did alot of research to end up with what I think will serve me well. I started off wanting to build a 24x40 because I thought that was about as big as I could fit without having to drop a bunch of trees on my property but neither the PO of my house or my neighbor seemed to really know where the property line was. So I hired surveyors and all three of us were way off on where we though it was and I ended up owning 12 feet into what was thought to be his yard. So I ended up being able to go 30x40 and still maintain the required standoff of 5'. Township and County permits took about a month but they finally came.
Its pretty much just a basic 30x40x10 but I had attic trusses installed. I went with a 10.5x12 pitch roof so that gave me a nice 16x40 room upstairs with a fairly high kneewall. I put the stairs on the outside because I didn't want to waste any space in the shop. The slab is 5" of 4000 psi concrete. I have some heavy toys ie mill/lathe and it really wasn't that much of an upcharge. I'm working on having someone come out and pave up to the apron. Hopefully the weather doesn't turn on us here in SC PA and they can come out soon.
