So I only joined in August, but I seen multiple times where someone has said something along the lines of "That's cool, I'm gonna have to get me one of those,". Here are some of the things I bought just because of this forum.

I had a "made in China" vise, since I've joined, I've bought 3 different "made in U.S.A. vices. I even tried my hand at refurbishing one!!

I bought a set of Witte screwdrivers.

I have also started going to Garage Sales and Estate sales looking for tools.

I'm also looking for a New to me Snap-on toolbox.

I'm sure I've bought other things as well, but I'm drawing a blank.

I bought 7 Craftsman gray & red rollers (3 x 3D, 3 x 9D, 1 x 12D), 4 gray & red middle chests (3 x 3D, 1 x 2D), and 7 gray & red top chests (3 x 10D, 2 x 6D, 1 x 3D, 1 x 12D) - all because I saw someone on GJ with a "wall of Craftsman" gray & red tool boxes. Damn this site!

I bought - hard handle Snap On screwdrivers, Matco magnetic spark plug sockets on swivel extensions, too many Dual 80 ratchets and a US General tool cart because of GJ and I thank each and every one you for contributing to making the madness that is auto repair a more pleasurable endeavour.

I bought an SK 3/8 ratchet in the 1/4 body, 45175

Knipex Alligators

Some old stock Armstrong, KD, NAPA, Allen wrenches just to round out an existing set...

But now, I think a set of WrightGrip wrenches is what I really need...I see a pattern...

MY HF tool box is the first thing that comes to mind, 3 years later and I'm still happy with it.

Probably 100s of other small items that were at least partially influenced by the GJ. I still have a set of "before" pictures of my tool set from the first month I was a member, I take a look at them every once in a while for a chuckle. Back then I could photograph my entire kit in a few minutes, now it may be hours:eyecrazy:

edit: just thought of a good one, my DBE collection, entirely encouraged by GJ:)

Lots of tools that I didn't have or were upgrades to what I had before I joined.

Mostly Craftsman USA items that Sears still sell like the Nupla dead blow hammers, pet bars both the professional set and the new red handle bars.

I now have large tool box desire. Ive always used the standard 26 tool boxes but thanks to this site I now must have at least a 52 inch box to keep all my tools in.

I've learned about Home Depot and penny deals though I don't have the time or desire to track any down. It's neat to watch the finds of others.

Wilton bullet vises (5 or so) , Hazet Assistent and assorted Hazet and other german tools, Quincy compressor, Lista work table and desk, Rapidair Fastpipe setup. I'm sure there are more but the above are items I either never heard of before hanging out here or had no idea I "needed".

My three different sets of GearWrench 120xp ratchets. I bought into the initial 120xp hype on GJ, but find myself seldom using. I still prefer using my HF composites most of the time. I just like the feel of the composites, and the quick release.

This will be an interesting tread..
Block grinder, arbor press, jointer, wall control peg board, saw those here and wanted them.
Trusty cook hammers. Pretty sure I would have never bought so many of those.

Too much to list. But I've also built and repaired a lot of stuff along the way, and saved a lot of money. The ones that stick out in my mind are:

Everything SK, Koken, Wera, Vessel, Stahlwille, and KTC that I've purchased, I probably wouldn't have even heard of these brands without Garage Journal. :D

Oh and in my eyes the crowning jewel of it all, my vintage Starrett machinist vise that I bought thanks to a craigslist link on this forum, AND restored with the help of this forum.

If that's not a resounding success story for this forum, I don't know what is.

Koken, Toptul, Wright, Proto, Indestro, Giller, Mayhew, Williams USA, Trusty Cook, and a Vise, I didn't think I needed a USA Made one till I started hanging out here.

probably alot more stuff from classifieds and hot deals than I can think of right now.

I picked up some huge Mayhew 80028 Dominator Monster Pry Bar Rack, 8-Pieceprybars from Amazon. Haven't really used them yet, but the time will come. I think Duker posted them in the Amazon thread. They included 2 of each, 36" 42" 44" and 58" inch prybars for 184 dollars. I took 4 to work and sold them for half of what I gave for them, so I got 4 for 90 dollars. 2c15e553ac970701e712c8a9c0cd2b7b.jpg

Stahlwille DBE deep offset wrench set
Snap On flare nut line wrench
Gearwrench 120XP flex head wrenches
Wrightgrip wrenches
Trusty Cook hammers
Felo screwdrivers

This site is responsible for introducing me to tools and brands I didn't even know existed and then helping me justify the expense.

I didn't know I needed more than 1 vise -12, or more than 1 drill press -3, or bunches of craftsman tool boxes. Now I know! Thanks G/J

Well I would have bought a lot of stuff anyway, but the exact brand/model is often influenced by GJ. For example would have gotten a complete 3/8" impact socket set, but got the Sunex Master set after good GJ reviews of both customer service and product, not to mention a rebate, which I probably would have missed.

I would have gotten some dead-blow hammers anyway, but like 2000-cvpi I got the Nupla made Craftsmans due to the CoO information found here, plus SYW points never hurts.

Some things I never knew existed w/o GJ, and had to buy as soon as I saw them:
Astro Extra-Short
Double-X Hose Ring-Nose pliers

But I'm not a GJ pushover. I've bought some things despite what GJ says, and been happy with them. Like GearPliers. Or SK wrenches, back before Adam.C got banned, when this seemed like an S-O or die board.

Lots of other **** I don't really NEED per se. I even have some duplicate "just in case" or "what if" backup inventory stuff hidden in a box at home, so people don't think I'm crazy when they open my box.
