I managed to become a Pratt-Read distributor, and I want to offer a special deal for Garage Journal members -take 35% off any Pratt Read product.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Pratt Read, they are one of the largest manufacturers of screwdrivers in the USA. They OEM screwdrivers for craftsman and others, and they make handles and blades for many brands as well. For example they make Klein's handles. PR makes 20 million screwdrivers per year, and another 50 million components. Everything is made in the USA in their own factories using high grade steel. They are also a great source of hex drive insert bits. They have pretty much every size, and theyre cheap.

I will be placing an order with PR on Monday June 15. PM me before then with a list of what you want. While I ask for a minimum order of $10, there are no minimums on items -for example you could buy one of every kind of insert bit. Or you could buy $10 worth of something and one 3.5in T10 limited clearance torx driver bit. It doesnt matter, just send me a list of what you want.

Here's how this will work:
Schedule:
I am placing the order on 6/15. It should show up around the 26th, with the orders going out on the 29th and 30th.

How to order:
Send me a PM here titled 'Pratt Read Order' with a line by line list of what you want. ex:
Slotted Cabinet, Rd -1/8 #82227
Torx T10, #82299

Include your email address at the bottom of the PM.

Once the shipment comes in, I will send you a paypal invoice for the items and ship them out once paid.

Shipping:
If your items fit in a flat rate priority box, they will ship priority. Otherwise they will ship UPS ground at cost.

If you have any questions, post them here -I will be checking this thread often. If you have a private question regarding payment or anything else you dont want posted here, send me a PM with the title 'Pratt Read question'

The catalogs with pricing are below. PLEASE NOTE: where it lists different packaging types, choose BULK. If there is no option for bulk, choose the cheapest option. Do Not choose 'Bag of 3' unless you want 3 of that item, or it is the only option.

Everything in the catalogs is in stock at PR and ready to ship to me, so I dont expect any backorders.

There are some items listed in older PR catalogs such as certain types of stubby screwdrivers, nutdrivers and torx drivers which do not appear in these catalogs. I will update the post when I am informed of the availability of these items.

If you are looking at the sets, price out the individual items as well, sometimes its cheaper.

I encourage everyone to look through each catalog in its entirety. There are some odd specialty items which come in handy such as spring tools, a blade tool for european style terminal blocks, a combo drive (slotted with 2 tabs sticking out) for the screws on switches and receptacles, etc

Are the ball hex end drivers available only in classic grip?
Is the 35% discount already in the catalog price?

It appears they are only available in classic grip. Would it be a popular item in the cushion grip? That could be an option down the road.

For the discount, take 35% off what you see listed in the catalogs.

price is each tool. I recommend only buying them as bulk, unless the item isnt available as bulk

and remember, you take 35% off the price in the catalogs

I can do that, no problem. I would have to determine the shipping cost once its packed and weighed. Send me a PM with your list.

Are the classic ones the better quality ones out of the bunch or are they all about the same?

the black pearl ones are an entry level model and the blades are not polished. The cushion grip screwdrivers have black oxide finished blades, the cushion grip plus have polished nickel-chrome blades. I cant really speak to the quality of one series over another beyond the different handle types and blade finishes.

I'm a newbie member with little experience with the "good stuff"

If knowledgeable members would post suggested items (w/o going crazy) I'd consider palcing an order ???????

Thanks so much,

Mrb, do you know if A&L Handles ever made Snap-on's screwdriver handles?

A&L did make handles for snap-on, but only the extruded type. A&L did not get involved with injection-molded handles.

Through a special process, they did manufacture SK handles before SK went to FACOM. These handles are the ones that look like an injection-molded handle, but were in fact, extruded and formed.

My source tells me that SK was A&L's first customer, and that many handles were produced on-and-off for Snap-On over the years. I didn't know this until today, but A&L even made wooden handles years ago!

Is the $10 minimum order before or after the discount? Thanks.

after, but if you dont meet it and there is something you want ill still do it. I just dont want to be losing money on packing materials by shipping single 25 cent driver bits to people....

Would you be able to send me pricing on the hollow shaft nut drivers I listed ? Depending on price, I may not need them all.

not to nag but... any update on the super stubby torx?

They are not producing those at this time. I am trying to work something out with PR to be able to get ahold of them. If I am successful, it may only be complete sets. I will know more in a few days.
