Sounds like an awesome way to blind someone! Also don't know the kw of the laser there but our 2kw trumpf at work takes a bulb every couple years to the tune of 10k

As far as using it for grease and carbon, I guess it would have a place in engine rooms where you cant just remove the engine for dipping.

remind me of that laser rust removal thread here last year of so... there were two of them.. .
My old dog used to wake up and love to play with her toy thinking it was a new toy every day.

It's an expensive way to do it.

We have a similar machine here...Plasma cleaner. It creates a plasma with high voltage...

Not very efficient, notice the intake and exhaust ports, never mind the oil passage. Some are so easily impressed, no wonder HF sells.

The internal combustion engine isn't very efficient either. They sell them every day, tho....:D

Kidding aside, I'd bet the operator hasn't used that machine for long enough to get a true feel for it. I do like the concept of the device, and wonder if it can be tuned and optimized for a particular material or surface.
