In continuation of the screwdriver series, looking for good quality screwdrivers, the Proto industrial line is one place to start your search.

Tip#1 Look for the older yellow handled series, start by hunting for them in pawn shops, garage sales, flea type places, Habitat stores, etc.; they are everywhere if you look hard enough, and most times you can find them on the cheap.

Tip#2 Proto has recently upgraded to the Duratek line, a very strong chemical resistant handle that is perfect for the garage shop environment; you will most likely not find them used, due to the newness of the series so you will have to look to the web for deals when buying them.

Again they are a very nice screwdriver and something that will take the abuse you can dish out 24/7.

Duratek looks the same as the Craftsman extreme grip handles.

Not so much.

But that's a scary thought with the SBD acquisition.
I sure hope we never see high end Proto stuff in Crapsman labeling.

With "Crapsman" pricing??? I would hate to think people might have to change their opinion of the Craftsman brand.

I guess I was getting more at brand dilution. No matter how nice SBD ends up making their nicest Cman ratchet, I sure hope there is a Proto offering that's nicer. Same with screwdrivers. Just hoping that Proto and Mac stay the premium offerings.

My other fear is that SBD will kill a brand to make room for Cman, and they'll choose Blackhawk. Please kill off mechanics tools from Stanley. Or DeWalt. Or Bostich for crying out loud, and leave Blackhawk alone!

Sorry OP for the detail, Durateks rock!! I have a complete set.
