What’s is Harbor Freight’s price match policy?

I bought two of the new Yukon rolling toolboxes on 11/26/17. These are the single drawer units with the Big cabinet below, not the multiple drawer units. I had a coupon on my phone for $239, which was $30 off, iirc.

In the latest email from HF, they have these units for $199.

Some stores will gladly refund the difference. I’ve never tried it with HF before. The alternative would be to return the two units, out of box, and then buy two new ones. It’s easier for everyone if they simply refund the difference and they don’t end up with two open box units they’ll have to mark down to sell.

Anyone have experience with HF in this scenario?

Most places won’t price match or adjust after 30 days, nor should they. You’re well past that. I suspect you’re going to have to return them if possible. Might want to check that out too, as you might be stuck with store credit on the return.

IF you really really need the money, buy two new ones at the new price, don’t open those and return the new ones using the old receipt IF you’re not past the return date. Personally I wouldn’t do it but that’s just me.

You can ask as they do have a policy of price matching within 1 year. For what its worth your return rebuy plans would get skunked by either manager refusal or 20% restocking fee.

You're well within the 90 day return policy. Go back with the receipts and get a price adjust. A return and rebuy would subject you to a 20% restocking fee

I just went there yesterday with the same exact situation. I bought one of the Yukon rolling cabinets about three weeks ago for $239, all I had to do was give them the phone number on my "account" and they gave me the difference back. Didn't even have my receipt.

I ran into the same thing with the red lower US General 56" chest. Went back with the coupon and my receipt and they credited right back to my credit card. Quick and simple, they didn't act like it was a big deal at all. This was about 3 weeks after I bought it.

Doesn't say specifically but I doubt it's for fast moving items so it may be possible something as large as a toolbox could be included in that

Several major credit cards have a price protection policy for just this occasion, usually for 90 days. You just had to have paid for the item in full with that card and retained the receipt and a copy of the lower advertised price.

e.g. https://www.discover.com/credit-cards/help-center/faqs/price-protection.html

Discover is particularly easy to work with, but Chase, Citi, etc have essentially the same policy.

If going to HF directly doesn’t work, this is a good option. I like to use my Discover Card to get the Black Friday deals a few days before to avoid the rush.

OP here. I was SOL anyway. I was a day too late. The lower price was only for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I didn't think about it until Sunday evening, after they'd closed.

I'll keep an eye out over the next couple months. Maybe they'll come up on special again.

I only tried their price match once and it was no problem. I noticed that the bench top drill press I bought went on sale about a week later and I just talked to the manager, had my receipt, quick and easy.

^^^^^^ This

That is why I use my Costco Visa for everything. In the Harbor Freight situation, all I would have to do is take a screenshot of the lower price and upload it along with filling out a small form. easy peasy

OP again: the coupon came out again for this weekend. I went to the store with my receipt. I explained to the floor associat who called a manager for me. I explained the situation to her and she authorized a return and repurchase with no problem. I got $85 back and then spent about $55 of that in the store for some various items.

I’m very pleased with HF.

I tried this today with a pair of the 44" US general boxes I bought on 11/3 with a coupon for $429 each. They are $399 today and I called HF cust svc and they denied me. "For Black Friday you have to be in the store buying the item".
On BF? For $60? No thanks.

Seems more and more retailers are adopting similar stricker return policies as the impact to the bottom line becomes more apparent. Plus with Sears out of the way this once low-end tool supplier can continue upping it's game plans and begin enforcing their return policy.

I've had no issues with getting a price adjustment for two HF Braun lights I ourhcased when they were not on coupon, but the coupon came on 1-2 weeks later.
