Hey guys, a few people have reported having issues reaching garagejournal.com from one device, but not another... If this is you, I need you to do a trace route for me.

From a windows machine, do this:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...rt-to-troubleshoot-tcp-ip-problems-in-windows

From a mac:

https://www.godaddy.com/help/performing-a-traceroute-in-mac-os-x-3366

Once done, just copy and paste the results to me. That will tell us where you are getting disconnected.

Ryan, today I couldn't access on an android phone - ip address not found. All day. I don't know what category this would be - lol

When I arrived home on wifi it works fine. I turned off the wifi on phone so that it is running on 4g. Garage Journal and the HAMB are the only sites that are acting up. Trying to connect it just times out with server IP address could not be found,

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

And is this something that needs traced while acting up or anytime?

I think to do a trace route on a phone, you have to have an app... and I don't want to bother you guys with downloading an app... So, I'll wait on someone having issues with a computer.

I was having problem with a windows based machine also, but it is fine now. Does this need to be traced while acting up. Because its going to be hard to use your links while you can't get on the site.

I've been having issues from my droid turbo phone on verizon network for the past week. Only when using verizon service, if the phone is connected to wifi it works fine. I tried clearing cookies and history, loading in desktop and also incognito window and nothing works. Tried logging out of gj when I was connected via wifi and back in and still when I wasn't on wifi I can't reach GJ.

I would be happy to get an app or whatever to help get to the bottom of this because I had some serious withdrawls this past week when I was out of town and no wifi! Just let me know what I need to do.

Note: you would trace to garagejournal.com and you would need to do it with a device that is having the issue.

Ryan, do you know if there is one for a droid phone by chance? If you have a link I will try it out. Need to figure this out so I can get my GJ fix when I don't have wifi!

Just kidding. Had wifi turned on when I did the trace. With wifi turned off, which is the only time I have the issue, the trace isn't working and doesn't show anything. It says "couldn't resolve garagejournal.com"

I did that and with wifi on it runs the trace and gives results. But I can also get on GJ with wifi on. If I turn off wifi I can't get on GJ and also the trace doesn't work. So not sure what the deal is.

Sounds to me like certain DNS servers are having trouble resolving the IP address of garage journal's server.

Can your host do a refresh on their DNS server and domain registry?

That's what happened when I tried to trace it also. It won't trace when it's having problems connecting to gj. It will trace when hooked up to WiFi and I can post that trace if it will help. But hooked up to WiFi I can go on gj no problem and Ryan said he needs a trace when it won't connect to gj.

Hopefully we can figure this out.

It was some sort of a weird DNS refresh issue I've never seen before... I mean, that was the problem if my changes fixed it!

Any of these problems trickle down from us getting so hard with spammers of late ? Did any of them slip something into the GJ matrix ?

I have been having problems with using GJ with my Verizon hot spot the past few days, but it seems to be working now. I am glad to know it wasn't me.

Still having problems. Unable all day to get on Garage Journal - server not found. (using android phone on Verizon). Came home tried using wifi and it works fine. Shut off wifi, running 4g and can't find server. I haven't had ANY problems on the wifi at all with computers or phone. :sad:

Was going thru withdrawals after a couple days of no garagejournal. Iphone on straighttalk (verizon towers) didn't work. Worked on wifi.

Thought it was just me. Started freeing up memory and clearing passwords.

Appears you fixed it. Works fine now. Whew. Thanks. Perhaps I'll quit shaking now.
