I have two vises for sale. I'll ship if I have to, but I I'd like to go for a local sale first if possible. They can be picked up at my house in Libertyville or the shop in Willowbrook.

Morgan: 3-1/2" jaw width, 7" jaw opening. Old American iron, in exceptionally great shape for its age, much tighter and more precise than any Morgan I've seen. As smooth as my Wilton. Awesome holding power. Swivel base. Replaceable jaws. $SOLD

Record: 4" jaw width, 5" jaw opening. Also in great shape, has most of the original paint. A little bit of surface rust. Looks like it has seen very light use. Made in England. Swivel base. Replaceable jaws. $70

Edit: boy, my pics of the Record are awful. If anyone needs better ones, just ask and I will take and post.

I weighed them today.. they both weigh in right around 42 pounds. Shipping on these is $42, of which I will pick up $20, if anyone wants them shipped. Nice vises.

Here are a few more pics of the Record. Another very nice vise. The mechanism is like new--no perceptible looseness. Just a bit of surface rust to clean up, and you can use it, and pass it on to your children. $90, shipped.

$15 Large flat rate box? No, its too tall. I should update my post--the $42 shipping price is for parcel post. UPS ground is actually cheaper at around $30, which is what I used to ship the Morgan. I'm still picking up part of the shipping..

The Morgan arrived today, safe and sound. Plastic wrapped, and a box within a box. And banded on top of that. Nobody can say your packaging isn't up to the task....

The vise is every bit as nice as you described too. I've been wanting something like that for quite a while.

Thanks again!

That may take just a little while. I couldn't help myself and took it apart. Now I have visions of fresh grease and a paint job....... Or maybe just fresh grease..... I haven't decided for sure.

One of these days I'll finally learn that things don't need to be taken apart and work just fine as is.

The record arrived safe and sound at its new home late yesterday. Like the Morgan, it was plastic wrapped, double boxed and banded. Great job packing to make sure that something that heavy arrived safe and sound. Just as described, light rust, most of the original paint and smooth operating.

Thanks!

I'm planning on adding a workbench in the lawnmower garage/compressor room in a coulpe of weeks and putting the Record vise and a grinder in there for repairs at the basement level. The older I get, the more my knees hurt going up and down stairs. I really like the looks and feel of this vise. Haven't decided whether or not to leave as is or do a teardown, lube and paint on it but I'm tempted to clean up the slight surface rust, oil it and let er rip.
