I was at harbor freight yesterday getting a case for my multi meter, this local store doesn't have the 26" boxes on display like the one I used to go to, but I did see they have the tags out showing the new 26" series 2 boxes. I don't recall it being mentioned (then again I don't pay too much attention) so I thought it might be of interest.

Also seems like they are going to start selling them separate which I imagine will make some people here happy.

Those inner lid stickers are awful .
Box would look lot more premium without that tack and if made effort design nicer logo plates .

I agree. The series 2 plates and stickers are uglier than the Gen 1.

Would cost less to not have the twatty inner lid sticker and not hard make a nicer logo plate for series 2 . Good concepts always poorly implemented with HF and Chinese :-/
I guess most de badge and sticker them anyway to avoid being stoned or fired :p

Sticker draws attention and gives it a name. Sticker might cost something, but it's pretty cheap for advertising

The sticker looks awful and cheap.
People don't shop at HF for the "Name"
Only thing that need be that big at HF is the price tags and coupons ...
A neat well designed logo plate gives it a name, could make it look less chincey if logo application designed and implemented with bit of class/gumption .

Not for people shopping there, but if the uninformed see a open box in someones garage with the sticker on it and in their face, it tells them what they are looking at.

Also looking forward to this answer.. I was playing around with the original one and couldn't find any combo to work with a deeper drawer up top.. Not sure this will be any different

I've seen the new 26" bottom in person. Didn't bother taking photos. This particular store now has the whole new 44", 26" bottom, 56" bottom & 72" all out on display.

The drawer depths on the new 26" bottom are the same as the old. The drawer liners on the new are thinner and stickier than the old 26". I much prefer the older ones. Notably, they are not as good as the liners in any of the other newer boxes.

Since the new 56 & 72 are exactly the same as the old, and you can now get the 26" bottom sold separately, you would be better with 56x22" of floor space by getting two of the 26" ones than a 44 or 56. Probably better with the 2 26 than a 44 and side cabs too. I'm not taking top boxes into consideration here. I have always liked the drawer layout on this bottom box, of course interchangeability is the tradeoff but if I was starting over two of these would be hard to compare to anything, assuming they cost less than the 279 when on sale.

I wonder if you can rearrange the drawers, i want a 3 inch deep drawer as the top drawer :dunno:

Yah. I like to have enough clearance to stand up 1/2" drive deep sockets on a rail in the top drawer of the bottom box.

I seem to remember reading here on GJ that the HF 26" box had rail holes on 2" centers and that the drawers could be rearranged.

Not sure when this came out, just found it when searching for more info.. now I see a height and drawer depth, and interestingly a close up of a deep drawer on top..Screenshot_20180518-063905.jpgScreenshot_20180518-063917.jpg

I think that's an altered picture of the larger 44 inch box. Too bad.

Picked one up this morning. Really really like the drawer layout. I like the many shallow/semi shallow drawers. Like this one better than my 5 drawer. Holds a lot and provides a nice work surface.c9158d4d95196bb1c1b2b3888dab1173.jpg

+1 on that
actually better than the cart IMO .
Agreed. In my opinion much easier to layout then a 4 or 5 drawer cart.fb56adce42110d0d957068a9b21fa903.jpgf16c1432768ede0b44e0c60eade99e56.jpge758880d3481b72d6d91fa9532cdb031.jpgd7bf1542706e35cff7b8c68af3748843.jpg372a1a5717b7d619aced86bee7c39e30.jpgd9594989ecd742ded46f19c8d4256510.jpg60ff6cfe7dd5c6fbed6daa67857b4f16.jpg2cecaf3516832a4089375e8a9ca58e3f.jpg

^ is the drawer liners the thin wrinkly type that move about as drawer opened/closed ?
thought they improved liners on series2 .
Is a great layout and size at the coupon pricing, for cheap 26" box not much better .

I went with the 26" top and bottom in blue, OTD for $426.

Not much for the sticker inside the lid for aesthetics but don't mind the badge on the outside, looks decent. A product does deserve to display it's name.

No, liners are sticky. Slightly textured but not ridiculous. Soft. My wrenches imprinted on them from laying there. Will see on the longevity.

Current work box, with maple top.
I would probably go 36" if they made one

Some black duct tape and a couple Studebaker stickers can be used to replace the US Generql logos.
