Can you rearrange the drawers on the bottom unit? Placing a deeper drawer as the top drawer?

I’d say the bottom is the safest place for the deeper drawers, I like the fact that they added depth to the overall drawers, but when considering the overall footprint of this style. It would only take one overloaded, misplaced drawer and brief lapse of judgement before shiny stuff was on the floor, or on top of its owner.

What box is next to it?

That looks like a 30" deep tool box. Probably just the camera angle.

The new boxes look good. Is the 22" deep box a good or bad thing. A lot of garage shelving is 18" deep. Most boxes are still 18" deep Craftsman, Husky, and others so you can have multiple boxes side by side but the new HF will be 4" different

I think these boxes would make decent bulk parts storage cabinets- at least for my needs. Just need to find some bins or dividers to install. As well as talking the boss into the idea.

For me? A bad thing! I have a normal sized 2 car garage and every inch of space matters and extra 4” is a deal breaker for me.

Finally!
that is a great footprint. it's ideal for those who are limited on floor space, and can still hold a ton of stuff! this is the answer to the Husky and Milwaukee boxes of similar size with absolutely horrible drawer layouts

Do like I do and park the cars outside. :bounce:

Haha, I have an attached 2 car and a detached 3 car and my wife still complains she cant park inside anywhere! I told her when we got married, garages are for tools and toys, not cars...

The bigger boxes are nice but I have the old style one and and I wish I could find one of those for $299 again...

Only thing I have read on here regarding the 26" being lower quality then the 40" box was the bottom plate and caster mounting is kind of cheesy.

It's the 56" that's on the right in the picture.. I opened the drawer of that 26" and the new 44" and the drawers appeared to be the same depth.. gotta say the 26" had really smooth slides. It's a really nice looking box too

The 26", 44", 56", and 72" toolboxes are all 22" deep with 19-1/2" deep drawers. The 26" and 44" were increased to 22" and the 56" and 72" already were.

Not bad seen it in person, i felt that it could topple easy.

That's true for ANY toolbox, hence why the deep drawers are always on the bottom. If you open all the drawers on a $10,000 box and allow all the weight to hang over the base, the same will happen. There's nothing "unsafe" about this particular box that doesn't also apply to every other box sold.

Yep.. it’s not really a Box that you would want to move around a lot, the tall/narrow stance would be a recipe for disaster for even the smallest imperfection/bump in the road.

I viewed a box here awhile back, can't remember the name, but it had a mechanism that only allowed one drawer at a time to be opened.

Yea it's a smart move they made by making every box the same depth. Now all the accessory pieces are more universal. Before you'd have to get more shallow lockers or drawer units than compared to the bigger boxes. I like the new lockers better too, although I wish they didn't make them more narrow like they did.

I knew the new set of side drawers were narrower, I didn't know the locker was - that kinda *****.

Yea 2" I think.. I believe they went from18" to 16". I grabbed one of the old floor models before the new ones came out. Glad I did.. the new model lost a drawer on the bottom but gained an extra shelf with the locker. Also the new ones finally have a magnetic door catch.

hope it wont be too long before we see someone with the new 26" and two of the new side boxes, or 2 26's with a side box connecting them.

YouTube review of bottom chest.

He reviews it along the lines of using it as a budget cart for a beginner tech, does some measurements starting around 2:30

Looks like it will be on sale for $229 at their parking lot sale this weekend (08JUN18-10JUN18), no coupon needed.

They are off to a great start. One of the new big $1000 roll-aways was out in the HF parking lot on clearance because one of the drawers was so mis manufactured it would not close. This was not shipping damage.

Just picked up a bottom 26" yesterday to replace an old real cheap Stanley box I was given years ago. What a huge difference. Now just need to buy more tools to fill it with.

I'm in. I picked up a 26" bottom chest last night. I had a brief run in with a 26" Williams bottom chest and I consider myself lucky to have sent that one back and got the US General. My impression is very well made. I had a bit of a tough decision between 26" and the 44" chests but my credit card, which I pay off every month, was setting off alarms so I though discretion was the better part of finance and went with the 26. The big pull for the 44 was the work area on top. I could get the 44" and forgo a top chest. But I have a Husky 26" top and bottom chest already. I've always just sort of sneered at it as junk. Best I can tell I inherited it a number of years ago from someone that moved in and was too lazy to take everything when they moved out. After looking at a lot of boxes the old Husky isn't too bad. A bit of paint, some decent casters, if I don't mount it fixed, and some drawer liners and I think it will be fine.

Just to add a bit to this thread - I looked at one of these today, thinking about replacing my craftsman box, which is stuffed. I don't have the space to go with anything any wider than 30".

Overall height is 40.5 inches. Height of the box without casters is 34".
Box is actually 26.5" wide, without the handle, and depth is right at 22".

Drawers (interior dimensions) are 19.5 x 22.25.

One thing that I don't like is that the drawers have no latches to keep them shut - only have detents on the drawers.
