I was hoping there would be new releases from SK available by then but, I haven't seen or heard anything. :dunno:

At about a month out, now would be the time to start putting the wheels in motion if it's going to happen.

What if instead of some special % off a particular brand we wished for free shipping with a $25 minimum order per say?

Something to entice people to participate rather than ones who have done so in the past.

Not real familiar with Epstein's day since I joined Garage Journal earlier this year. But I do like the free shipping idea, I have been putting off ordering from Epstein's because their shipping is high when you have several things in the cart.

Epstein's day has never been about the deals, free shipping, or enticing people to participate. It was about willingly supporting American Tool Brands, a small American business while eating seared flesh and apple pie on Independence Day.:bounce:

Correct. I agree and that's why I participate.

What I'm saying is that there is always a theme company like SK or Wilde. What if we tried to eliminate the spotlight brand and just say hey this is about America so instead of looking for a company to participate, wouldn't free shipping entice more people to say ok I'll order.

Honestly (against my better garage journal judgement), how many huge socket sets can someone need to get 10% off. Or how many people want to spend $250+ when they are just looking to buy a box full of less than $10 items.

Just trying to start constructive discussions.

Free shipping on small orders would probably cost them money. That’s not the point of hje day. Never had been.

Are you suggesting Epstein's does it as break even or at a loss?

Their site/program does not do a good job calculating actual shipping costs. Sort of gives you a worst case estimate and it’s often less in reality. You can fill your cart and then call them and they can usually figure out the actual cost.

I don't know about you guys but I try to do both all year round. Free shipping to Hawaii would be nice. Nonetheless, I'm in like I've been for the last 5 years.

Again, what I'm saying is eliminate the "t shirt" or other items or the time it takes to gather a yearly sponsor and put together a promotion.

In lieu of that, I offered other suggestions. That's all.

I am in favor of a t-shirt. HJE day is currently my only source of acquiring new shirts. :)

Oh, and SK needs to make the flex head 3/8 or 1/4 drive 90 tooth available.

I understand that and if there was no free shipping I would certainly still order to support them. The shipping cost just makes ordering a little less attractive. If there was $100 minimum free shipping I could easily find stuff I need since I've never ordered from them.

I've got a list. The shirt isn't my thing, throw in a note pad, pen, pencil whatever with HJE on it.

I have ordered from HJE a few times now. Shipping has always been reasonable in my case. I like buying from these mom and pop shops. Sure, it can be a little more money, and their web sites may not be as fancy, but just how much money does Amazon really need? Plus I have to pay sales tax at Amazon. And I am not Amazon Prime, so I don't necessarily get fast shipping.

I know shipping will be about $15. So I order 15 items and just add a buck each. Makes it easy to me.

Whenever work takes me to Kansas City, I always try to visit HJE. Good folks, and I never know what I am going to find that I didn't know I needed

Thanks for starting the discussion!

I've been talking to Wright, SK and Norseman about possible promotions. I'm really hoping SK's 1/4 and 1/2 drive ratchets will be out by then. I'm working with Wright on a ratchet promotion as well. Not sure what we can do with norseman, but we'll definitely get something together for you guys by July 4th. As far as shipping, we can't do free, but what I can promise that we'll discount it to what it actually costs, as opposed to what the shipping calculator figures it to be.

I'll keep you guys posted on any developments.
Thanks again for supporting Epstein's and US made tools!
