After several months of planning and taking in info from this site, my garage build has begun. 20' X 30' garage/shop sized for an eventual lift.

Following. Looking to start planning my garage. Would like a 30 x 40 but I think I may have to scale back to hopefully no less than 30 x 30 without having to move any septic reserve and due to my set back line as well.

+1 week status. Slab + foundation (monolith) is poured.

-4" thick 4000 psi slab with significantly deeper footers where an eventual lift may go.
-Lessons-learned: have to keep a close eye on contractors... i don't think I would have gotten 4" worth of slab if I didn't check the thickness, get everything in writing in the contract that you really want (in my case the slab ended up a bit higher in elevation than I wanted, relative to my existing garage... i had no reference nor reqt in the contract), quickly realizing that actual drawings of the garage would have been a good idea (rather than a crude sketch & details informally communicated along the way).

Yeah, It's usually pay for 5 and get 4, pay for 6 and get 5.

It's nice when you pay for labor and concrete separately. They don't mind giving you extra then.

Care to share how you plan on using it?
Maybe the rough draft plans?
Any power?

Mine is close, 24 x 30. Looking at the approach, I am guessing your garage door will be on the narrow end. So I would describe it as deep. I flipped mine around, and enter from the wide, so I have two bay's and some storage.
Keep the updates coming. :)

+4 week status. Driveway extension complete. Brick 'foundation' around perimeter for framing complete. (Big gap of not much happening for 3 weeks).

-Lessons-learned: If i had to do it again, I'd have real drawings made rather than ppt sketches. Too much uncertainty & 'worrying' & over-site the way I'm doing it. Brick mortar color match to house it not the best... will work with bldr on remaining mortar that will be used for the brick veneer on the front. (Cement is 'light grey' but the sand they're mixing it with is brownish... i'd think there is grey sand???). Hard to tell in the pictures but the house mortar is light grey, garage base is looking more like a tannish grey.

+3 month status. Near done! Gutters, closing fencing, some brick mortar crack repair, brick cleaning, & slab cleaning is what's left for the contractor. I'm doing the interior painting myself, as well as the exterior trim & doors.

It's taken a while, but my garage is finally (more or less) done... at least useable. After the contractor was done with most of the work, my scope was painting inside, some of the trim work, sealing the slab, exterior caulking & trim painting...).
Today was the first day that I put both of my Porsches (an '08 Boxster & an '88 944) in the garage. Next comes moving stuff like workbenches & tools in. And then a 2-post lift is in the plans.
This forum was absolutely a fantastic resource for the project... thank you.

First, to respond to the prior question by machinemanjr - the minisplit is working fine. My contractor installed a cheap, low efficiency one which I was not happy with - but it still works fine. (I wanted a better version that would be more efficient in the summer and work better for heating when outdoor temperatures are low). Still ok though.

Second, my first lift with my Rotary 2-post occurred today!
