Insulated exhaust fan cover...

Need an exhaust fan but did not want to lose heat like crazy in the Winter. Fan is a 10" J&D Manufacturing model that moves 663cfm, fit very nicely in a 2x6 bay, though I did have to clearance the control knob to foam board, it stuck out about 1/8". Frame is 2x4 with a 3/4x3/4 channel routed for 3/4 finished pine backer for the foam board.
I'll test it out with some cigars this weekend....:thumbup:

Any reason you have it relatively low to the floor? Looks like maybe 4-5' off the floor. I would have thought closer to the ceiling would have been better (hot air rises) but then your access to the insulated door would have been more difficult.

That's actually about 3 feet up from the bottom of my loft floor, about 2' down from my 14' ceilings.:thumbup:
