Hello everyone. After all these years it's nice to be able to finally post my garage. I thought it would never happen.

After years of being without a garage, I finally have one again. I never owned one before but my parents did. My dad was kind enough to share and since he retired from farming he had plenty of space in the barn.

Life happened which changed all of that and for several years I used one of those small metal sheds and a gravel driveway as my garage.

Last year we finally moved into our new house which included not only an attached basement garage but a second detached garage. The bonus garage was much nicer than expected! I would have been happy with anything that had a roof, four walls and a door personally.

Other than some repairs to our dailys I have yet to spend much time in it. Last year was spent updating the house top to bottom.

The couple we bought it from spent most of their time in the garage so they finished it a few years prior. it looked a lot better than the house! Still does I think :)

This thread won't show anything too exciting like I see on here from some people. There's no cool history or story to go with it, unfortunately.

I hope to acquire a few things here and there for decor. Change my storage and workbench as time goes on. I may get fancy and figure a way to squeeze a bar into it someday.

Thanks to this forum I have a million ideas. A couple of favorites I'll likely steal an idea or two or 20!

I will quit rambling now. Here are the photos. Things are a mess but will get better

Cool space.

Funny, I just picked up roughly the same shade of grey for an accent wall in my garage. Was worried that it would look too dark/depressing but seeing it on yours makes me think I am going to be happy with my choice.

Thanks for all the compliments! I think you will be happy with the color Richie. I'm thinking of an accent wall one day using barn wood, pallets or sheet metal. perhaps a bit of each.

It will be a while though.

Tonight I start replacing the shocks on the Mach 1. It will be nice doing something that's not a home improvement project for a change.

Thanks. Hope to get more work done to them soon. Props to the previous owner for making sure it had plenty of lighting and outlets!

Thanks again hotfr8 for the help. Will try to get some more photos posted soon

Not much has happened since the last post but figured I would post something.

Every time I get on here to do so I look at other garages and spend all my time reading those...

I can't even come close to most of you but maybe I'll improve over the years.

The garage is the same other than some new decor here and there. I cleared off one of my shelves so I could take it down and I'll be damned if not 5 minutes later things showed up on it...

I got the shocks on the Mustang like I said I would. Forgot the rear brakes needed replacing, so that has to be done.

While working on the front shocks I saw the upper and lower ball joints had gone to **** along with everything else. I guess it's to be expected on a 45-year-old car. I'm 40 and feel shot all the time.

So I've decided to replace all the suspension in the front. It will be slow since I'll be buying parts as I get the money.

While waiting on the money I can install the heater core I keep putting off.

Also, I'm sick of seeing all the dirt and grime that has built up under the car. It looks like hell and it's just nasty when you have to work on something. It will not be Concours or even close to showroom condition when I'm finished but it'll be better.

This has all been a long time coming but haven't had a garage until now. I was hoping to just throw the shocks on, fix the brakes and drive it this summer. Oh well, it has been waiting for years so won't hurt to wait a little longer. Plus it'll be safer and more enjoyable.

The garage AC went out a couple of weeks ago but I got lucky on that. Needed a $15 capacitor and was back in business. I never thought I would care about having AC in a garage. In fact, I would've laughed at anyone who said they needed it.

I need AC in the garage.

Here is the current work that needs to be done. This is from a few weeks ago but I haven't had time to do much. Besides, it was hot :) I hope to be back out there in about an hour to get started. Assuming I don't start reading another garage thread.

Man that's a great space and Mustang.

Is the floor 12" tiles or some type of sheet? I'd love to have something other than unsealed concrete and that gives me an idea.

What's behind the double doors and the other single?

Thanks

The floor is an epoxy coating with the paint chips in it. The PO had it done when he had the garage finished. It looks nice but I think a porcelain tile would hold up better for real garage work. That's based off what I have read on here from other people.

I have noticed scuffing after I work on something so I try to be careful.

The double doors open to a big drop off :) The plan was to put a deck and hot tub on the back of the garage. It's all wired up so someday maybe it'll happen.

On the other side of the Mach 1 is a 90 notchback. It's waiting for me to put an interior back in. It was red on red. It's now blue and will have gray interior when I get the time.

Wow, that is nice!

I think your accent wall turned out pretty good!

I wish I had your floor! The floor was already done in mine when I moved in. No complaints really just have to be careful.

Your garage looks great! Going to have to read your build later. I still didn't get much done yesterday. I forgot I needed to get tires put on my car trailer so I can sell it. Had the tires already just kept forgetting.

Apparently, the brake drum rebuild kits do not include the strut bar return spring...So another part needs ordered as they are not carried in the stores. Maybe I'll work on the stupid heater core for now and clean up underneath.

Thanks.

I looked long and hard at floor options, polish and seal was the best meeting point of price and durability.
Was going to go tile but the prices just blew that out of the water.
Epoxy wasn't going to fly because welding, automotive fluids and the difficulty of repair/replacement.
I also had to do something that would make a 30+ year old floor and brand new floor blend well together (the back part where the accent wall is was the existing 2 car garage that we added on to).

Nice garage! What's the story on the notchback? That color looks like the one used on Michigan SSP police cars.

I wish I could tell a cool story but...

That color is the blue for the 94 -96 Corvette Grand Sport. I like it but wasn't really what I wanted. The guy didn't have any Ford colors to choose from for those years. My dad paid for it and wanted to use his guy. I don't remember the bs story on why I couldn't just give him the name or code I wanted.

I had just wrecked it and beggers can't be choosers type deal. It's done now and is what it is.

The car was red on red and I hated the ***** red interior. I painted it blue to force a color change. Now i wish I had painted the thing black and dealt with it.

It got put away when the wife got pregnant with our son 11 years ago. I started on it again about 6 years ago but then my father passed and just wasn't a priority.

I've got carpet, headliner, seat upholstery and most things to finish it. Just not the time.

Hopefully by next year I can work on it and get it on the road. Surprisingly it starts every time I try it.

The photo is in a buddy's garage about 6 years ago. I think before lowering springs were put on.2013-05-19 17.01.21.jpeg

Not really garage related but I love pressure washing stuff. I got the patio area cleaned which is in-between the two garages, so kinda garage related. The whole thing needs redoing but that will be awhile. I knew it was dirty but wow! If any of you find time to kill more time then check out /r/pressurewasherporn/ if you haven't already.

It is only about pressure washing things. I'm weird but not that weird.

Btw I love the surface attachment! It is amazing and no way could I go back to not having one. I may add wheels to it later to make it even easier to move. I will need an extension so I can stand straight up before doing the driveway.

The Simpson pressure washer is doing great so far. This was only the second time I used it so I suppose it should do great for being new. The main reason I bought it was because it had the pneumatic tires. I read good reviews about the Honda motor but I hate plastic wheels.

I picked up some new wheels for the Mach 1. A guy was selling original 73 slotted aluminums for $100 on my local letgo. I hope they are good but I couldn't pass them up for a bill. Unfortunately, they did not include the covers, but that's okay.

I have not touched them yet. The worse one is pictured so they will take a lot of elbow grease. I will find out if they are any good first before I put the effort into it.

The rear brakes are finished on the mustang now. They are put back together anyway so I hope they only need to be bled. Street Rod Nationals was in Louisville this weekend so my buddy and I went over there like we do every year. He's already 11 and 16 is just around the corner! I hope he still wants to go with me then :) My daughter is 18 soon.

Time. Freaking. Flies.

Attached is a pic of one of the more unique vehicles we saw. There were tons of nice cars obviously but this is different.
