About 40 years ago I bought some Craftsman tools and a hand carry tool box. I worked as a farm tractor and equipment mechanic for 2 years, then I changed careers and used those tools very little. But I took those tools with me when I moved. I recently retired and decided to start repairing my car, and I re-discovered that tool box.

The box was made by Union Steel Chest Corp in LeRoy, NY. That company closed around 1973. It's still in pretty good shape, a little rust.

bw77,thats great you still have the tools & box! My parents gave me a Craftsmen hand carry box & tools in the mid 70's that I still have. Most of the tools have disappeared but I still have some sockets, wrenchs,& ratchets & the box.I'm trying to learn about tool codes for the 70's to restock.A couple of years ago I bought my son some Craftsman tools & hand carry box.Hopefully they will last just as long.

That's a great lookin' vintage box!

Course I am a sucker for hammer and krinkle finish boxes.

Yes, I have a Craftsman grey toolbox, also about 40 years old, that I used to carry all my wrenches. As you can see it has not held up as well as the Union Steel Chest box with the red shelves.

Yep, Union unquestionably made good stuff.
Another thing I notice .... your trays move out far enough to give full access to bottom section. Thats important since fumbling to get larger tools out is sort of annoying.
