Chance to buy Rock Island vise 574

Okay guys the guy is willing to sell this to me for $25 but it's A2 hour drive to his house. so I wanted to see what everybody thought about it. I kind of think for 2 hour drive and 25 bucks it's worth a shot. He says it works as it should opens and closes easily and the jaws meet up nicely. I'm not positive that but I will check it if that is true it's definitely worth the 2-hour I'm not positive that but I will check it if that is true it's definitely worth the 4 hours driving and $25? Don't you think?

Rock Island is as good a vise as you can buy and that's a steal at $25, but check carefully for cracks and welds.

Cant say for sure but it looks like there may be a chunk missing from the bottom of the dynamic jaw mount.

I have one of these vises. For 25 bucks you can triple your money in parts even if the thing is a wreck. The weak spot on these vises is the lip on the vise body where the dynamic jaw rests. Give that a close look for cracks along with the main nut inside the vise body.

If u drive 2 hours buy it either way u can sell as a parts vise or part it out and break even gas included and keep whatever is broke as a reminder not to drive 2 hours again haha I try to stay a 1 hour try to

Okay! So I picked up the Rock Island. Really glad I made the trip. Yes they were very bad pictures! I think it looks awesome. It's pretty good size also! It even still has the metal plate stamp to the side of it looks like a nameplate maybe for the company that owned it? I don't know if anybody could make out that wording I will look more once I get it home. Thanks for all the help guys!

And the guy brought a couple other toys that I picked up for another 20 bucks... now interesting enough I met him at a Walmart and after he left I went in to go to the bathroom on my way back to my car I found a $20 bill blowing across the parking lot! True story!... and I'm having a little trouble posting pictures but maybe I have a bad signal I'll be sure to post more when I get home
