Wow! I wish I'd known...

The shop where I apprenticed had FOUR of those, just like that one. Just sitting on the shelf, collecting dust... Should have bought one.

This dates to the mid-late 1940's. The first snap on torque wrench came out in 1938, and had a wood handle, model TQ-II. Nice to have the original paperwork.

Here is my 40's era 9/32 drive RT-250.

I decided to email snap on...

The terse and unplayful response... I am shocked they have NO archival data at all.

Chris,

We no longer have any data on the TQ15 torque wrench. Our computer system carries information as far back as 1996. I saw a couple of hits on the internet which place this wrench in production in the 1930s.

In general, tool warranty is non-transferrable. Snap-on does not warranty tools that a customer bought used from a previous technician.

In regards to this torque wrench, it is so old there aren't any parts available for it. Snap-on no longer manufactures its own torque wrenches. They are manufactured by outside companies such as Test Product International, CDI Torque and Precision Instruments to our standards.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

Thank you.

Snap on is never correct in their age diagnosis, funny thing is they usually date things as older than they are. using old catalogs is the best way. I still haven't gotten a chance to scan the decal, but I will soon.

Thanks Chad! - Yea, I knew the avg CSR was going to dismiss. That is why I also complained to him that the warranty card didn't have their URL on it.
