Hey guys, Im new to the sub and was wondering if you guys could help me out. I came across this set of Walden-Worcester wrenches in the original box and thought they were pretty cool. If anyone could tell me how old they are, what they are worth, and what they were used for? I’m not a vintage tool guy so I know nothing about tools. Thanks so much!

Hard to help you out without any photos.

Are the sockets pressed steel (thin, black, with a square hollow male drive tang)? Or forged (thicker, steel colored, with a square opening at the base)? Is the box pressboard/cardboard? Or wooden?

If the answers are pressed steel and pressboard/cardboard, it is from 1910-1919. If the answers are forged and wooden (link to an example here), then 1920's. Walden made socket sets for cars for many years, the technology changed, but they used the same set numbers (4, 6, 8, etc), which indicate the number of sockets in the set.

I couldn’t add any pictures because I’m new otherwise I would. It’s in wooden box!

Ok I checked out the website and came up with this.

“Walden-Worcester No. 8 Socket Set

The Walden No. 8 socket set was the company's smallest collection and was particularly recommended for servicing Ford automobiles. The set consisted of a No. 516 ratchet, two No. 1109 drive plugs, a No. 1139 extension, a No. 1102 universal joint, seven 2xx-series hex sockets with sizes 1/2 to 15/16, and one No. 118 9/16 square socket. (Two drive plugs were required in order to use the double-female universal joint.)

The hex socket models and sizes were 216 (1/2), 218 (9/16), 220 (5/8), 222 (11/16), 224 (3/4), 228 (7/8), and 230 (15/16).

The No. 8 set was supplied in a sturdy wooden box with wrap-over hinges. Our set is currently being prepared for display and will be added in the near future.”

They do that to prevent eBay seller drive-bys.

Click on the link to my No. 16 set in the post above. My set is bigger (more sockets) but would have several of the same pieces, including the ratchet, extension, and U-joint and some of the sockets. Do your pcs look like that? Then, inventory your set by piece and part number against the AA set No. 8 inventory.

Looks like my set is almost identical to your number 16 set. I sent you a picture of mine in a private message. It looks like I have everything stated on the inventory. So I must of got a complete set! Sweet.

Whoa baby, the tool gods had a hand in making that set, holy communion!
I saw mention on the Walden Spintite nutdrivers, how about a few pics of those?
