I was in Menard's (Ontario,Ohio) this morning and was walking down one of the main aisles that run perpendicular to the tool section. I spotted a red tool box and turned to look at it as I walked by. Low and behold it was a 26" Cman top and bottom combo. I was somewhat surprised to say the least after Menard's switched to all Masterforce hand tools.

. . . .. hang on a second for the attachment

How interesting, I noticed (finally) the Craftsman roller toolboxes and plastic portable boxes at Lowes a few months ago. I wonder what is the business connection between Craftsman's new owners and Menard's?

I'm not sure but, are there lowes in the same regions that have menards? I was thinking that they don't overlap so, perhaps menards will be the Midwest distributor for craftsman :dunno:

They probably figured, that those that shop at Menards, don't shop at Lowes, might want an American made Cman tool chest.

Genius!

Yes, locally the Menard's I took that picture in has a Lowe's .75-1 mile away and farther down the road another mile is HD.

If you look at this link, you can see Menard's near US 30, south of that Lowe's and near the bottle of the screen is Olive Garden, scroll just down a slight bit and you'll see HD.

It’s not the first time Menards has sold Craftsman and being now that SBD owns them I’m sure they’re trying whatever they can to get CMAN wherever possible

Our Lowe’s is across the street from Menards.

They both compete in the Midwest markets.

Menards has had some Craftsman products over the last few years. Not much, and not consistently, but some, nevertheless.

Same here. And a HD is about 100 yards from my Menards.

My HD is on the other side of the highway from Menards, at the end of the off ramp it's left or right depending where you want to go....I always go left to HD.

Was fun yesterday talking to a guy that works at Menards and just backed up my thoughts on the store.

We don't have a Menard's in Sacramento, CA. All we have are Home Depot, Lowe's, a few small warehouse style contractor supply stores, and various hardware stores. I have seen Craftsman tools at Lowe's, Emigh's Hardware (Ace Hardware), and at one of the warehouse club stores (I can't remember (I have CRS) if it was Sam's Club or Costco). I guess SBD will be placing Craftsman tools everywhere. :dunno:

I'm gonna guess there was an abundance of inventory based on how poorly sears has been doing, and Menards bought a bunch for pennies on the dollar. I will be interested to see if CM continues to be available at Menards.

That particular box looks like the new one Lowes is carrying and not the ones sold at Sears.

Like others have posted we have a Lowes and Menards across the street from each other. And a Home Depot a couple blocks down the street.

People Fail to realize that Sears had the "New" 2000 series boxes before Lowes and other retailers, they also didn't plastered them with USA Made stickers for some reason. The truly new Boxes are the 3000 series black and red boxes.

Looking at inventory for my store, Menards is offering 2 drill presses, a miter saw, a router table kit, a 5 drawer tool chest, a 4 drawer tool box, the same two boxes as a combination, and 4 different types of engine and bar/chain oil. Seems like an odd combo if there ever was one but then again it is Menards. My local store always seems to have random stuff from time to time for a couple of weeks and then you never see it or the brand again.
