Very nice work! That was an effort. The 7-11 sign is a cool touch. I also like the "saw bench" idea - I'll have to remember that.

thanks all for the comments... I will be adding the rest this evening... check back :bounce:

Looks good.

I wouldn't want PVC as my compressed air line though.

I have noticed that almost know one as the PVC as air lines... but I DID use the thicker wall sche 40 and also I know my uncle also has had his in the walls with no problems for about 15 years

Wow....nice redo of space  I'm still kicking it around about removing a wall between my two spaces. If I do, I now have the instructions on how to go about it. One question though and I think it was addressed about 50 pics ago :lol_hitti Aren't you worried about PVC for airlines? At least it's in the wall if something does happen, but in the event it does, what are your plans then? Run all new on the outside of the wall?
Also what made you decide to go with metal studding vs. wood? I know that in my area metal was starting to catch on for a very short while and a few houses were built using all metal, but then it seemed to die out. Maybe due to the economy and steel prices, IDK. Does the metal floor joist let the floor have any bounce to it, as strong as wood joist, or stronger?

GO for it... it easily added more space (kinda) then you would think!!!

I am not too worried about it... the PVC is rated at well over my working wall pressure... I have a reglator that feeds the wall lines... then if I want full range I just connect straight to the compressor... and as noted before where I got the idea for pvc was my uncle which he has had them in his wall for 10-15 years with NO problems..
and also if i do have issues with it and can pin point where in the wall the problem is I will knock a hole in the wall and repair the pvc.

Side Note here: it was 109 pics ago Kevin :D

wood vs steel... hummm

steel personally I would rather work with MUCH easier in most cases here to deal with. my reason for going with the steel was price ;)

Does the metal floor joist let the floor have any bounce to it, as strong as wood joist, or stronger?
now that you mention that the floor does have a little bit of bounce to it... but i really dot think the wood would change that... most ALL of the steel studs used were 18-14 gauge steel... not the flimsy **** from HD or lowes :lol_hitti

Your space is 'just right' in so many ways

And the 7-11 and exit signs just seal the deal!

Great addition, too, buddy!!!

is the toilet for real???:lol_hitti

correct... it is for real,it drains into a 5 gallon bucket that has charcoal in it and holes drilled all around the bottom and sides... then i just have the crystal like toilet sanitizer thingys laying in the funnel to keep it from smelling back into the garage...

so its a no.1 only then i take it.... thats a ****** good idea... i hate trying to sneak in to the house at 2am to take a leak, only to have the dog wake up and go mental.. or i have to go outside and quietly try to relieve myself... youd be suprised how loud such actions are when its dead silent and dead still at 2am.

DSC07811.jpg

DSC07814.jpg

added a channel for my winter insulation to fit into for air gaps :)
more pics of this later when I put the insulation panel up for the winter...

then I painted the pocket door to blend into the wall :D

Were those airlines PVC???

Yep he is.

I have 1/2 PVC lines in my garage as well. I think mine are rated to 300 PSI or something like that, which is Water PSI not air, but none the less. They get a bad rap because they explode. However I've never personally seen one explode. I however have seen them split and leak, which is typically because of a bad glue job, but never explode. Your running these lines at what 100 to 135 PSI max? Unless you have an output of 175PSI or something crazy. Mine is normally regulated at 100PSI.

Most building officials frown at them, but until you can buy black iron or that cheaper Aluminum stuff for .25cents a foot I don't personally see desire to spend the big bucks.

I know this has been beat to death but I do not see a problem with PVC inside a wall. The danger from PVC is not that is just spontaneously explodes. The danger is it being hit with something and then goin BAM and sending shrapnel everywhere. Can't do it encased in the wall.

thanks.. yeah this has been a bit of a continuous project, looking back i might have concidered extending that entry bump out the full length of the garage. but now that the roof and stuff is complete i will just have to add that shed for extra room... :) and i will be right over in a couple years... hahah

Hey Ryan, I live in Bellevue. Just curious what part of Omaha you are in. I don't expect you to post your address, just curious as to the general part of town. Most of the houses in your pics look older.

Thanks!
Dave in Bellevue.
