Cyclone Dust Seperator

I purchased on of the "cyclone" type seperators for my blast cabinet.
After getting it all plumbed in to my cabinet & shop vac, I turned the vac on and the gloves went straight out and one even pulled off the front of the cabinet.
I have an opening for air to come in.
I'm thinking I have way to much vacuum cleaner for the system.
Will I need to install an adjustable vent on the side, or a motor control to slow down the vac??

That is pretty good! Must be a small cabinet or a hell of a vacuum cleaner. I usually vent until the gloves drop down and touch the floor inside the cabinet. You can hole saw a vent hole if you want to, just provide a baffle inside the cabinet to reduce fly waste escaping. You can also provide a swing damper over the hole to adjust the flow desired.

Yea, I kind of figured that. It is a small bench top cabinet with a 16 gal. Craftsman shop vac hooked up...
It has a 2" dia. vent hole.
I don't want to do to much to the cabinet. I just bought one of the 40 lb. Harbor Freight cabinets. I want to do the "retrofit" to it in hopes of improvement...

Some home vacs have a hole in the hose and a partial collar over it to adjust the vacuum by rotating the collar to cover, partially or totally expose the hole. Maybe you can insert a short solid section in the hose and rig up something similar. It is less permanent than drilling the cabinet.6ecd331e8e59778bf0051d7437aff817.jpg

Wonder if you can put a hole in the side of the vacuum hose between the blast cabinet and the cyclone. This may reduce the vacuum in the blast cabinet while still giving the cyclone lots of airflow to do its thing.

My decades old dee blast cabinet just has a motor with a squirrel cage to pump the air and airborne media out into a filter bag, but it don’t really pull a vacuum. I did try a vacuum on mine once when the motor burned out and the same thing happened, so I fixed the motor and left it alone.

I have never run into too much vacuum when it comes to a vacuum. The more the better in my opinion. It's the one thing I really do want to **** the chrome off a hitch. I have a "5 hp" craftsman, I can't but barely tell the difference between it and the 1 gallon Ae hardware brand shopvac I have for cleaning out the car and small stuff. Now I know why the Craftsman was discounted so much.
