So a while back i picked up a Skat Blast 960 cabinet it had one Flood Lamp inside and i hadnt used it yet so i didn't realize how dim it was.

The previous owner ran out of Lense Liners so the Glass was frosted more than i wanted to deal with cause the cabinet was wayyyyy to dusty inside when on. So on to TP tools site to get some goodies. I saw there was a Dust Collector Upgrade that might fix my dust issue, ordered that up with the round HEPA Filter. Ordered new Window Glass and Liners, then i was looking at the offered magnetic LED Lights inside when i decided they were not bright enough. Oh but wait i now have a slightly frost glass piece that i could use for more lights. SO i hoped on Amazon Bought me a 10k Lumen LED panel Light(69$) and the construction began.

Cut a Window out in the top with the window as Template.

Then pulled out the sheet metal Tools and small piece of 18 gauge Sheet Metal.

And Tried out my newly purchased Shear and Brake for first time.

Spent some time learning how to use the brake and get the offset flange style i wanted because i didnt want to order the plastic window mount from Tp Tools and wait.

Finally got a flange made and then i needed a gasket for the glass to keep the Abrasive in the cabinet. Found some Left over Tool Box Liner material the sticky kind but it wasnt sticky enough so added some loctite 60second hold.

After that a Trip to Homedepot for some EPDM weather striping to attach to the bottom of the LED light to stop light leaks.

Mean while the paint was drying on the Flange pieces i remembered a cabinet Door upgrade i saw on TP Tools to stop the abrasive from collecting in the door simple Double Bend sheet metal and a couple magnets. Did a Quick Eye Ball Measurement and bent up a piece for this part. found one of the HF magnetic tool strips laying around in the shop and attached it on the back for a sturdy mount.

Then back to the light found an electrical cord i pulled off a dead appliance to wire into the light while i wait for rubber grommet to show up to make it purdy.

Installed the Hepa Upgrade into the Vacuum Canister with the post filter bag.

Awesome!!

You can use a mini cyclone on the dust collector and you’ll never replace another filter or bag. The Oneida works really well.

It depends on usage of course. I have it on my shop vac. My buddy has one on his blast cabinet and is always talking about how well it works.

Mofo does the upgrades gun work with less then 20cfm compressors or just with the big boys? Wondering if less clogs due to more area?

Nice job! Always annoying how dark blast cabinets are.

Info on the brake? Looks nice.

Great work! I’d live a big cabinet like that. I used a small harbor freight model for years. Finally tossed it. I just lay a local guy to blast pieces when needed.

There is a carbide upgrade for the regular gun you can see it in my photos its the one i took off that's round not hexagonal shaped. carbide inserts also available on their site in multiple sizes. bigger nozzle uses more air so yes u could use it on less cfm compressor but you might have to wait on the compressor

i had two other brand cabinets before deblast and do it all and they were not ergonomic, small arm holes and just not fun to use. i upgraded both of those and still got rid of them. and i need a bigger cabinet then this one too cant even easily blast a model A tailgate just too skinny.

The Skat Blast with the Hepa Upgrade clears fast, big arm holes smooth gun setup id buy another just bigger

used the cabinet last week to blast a Model A Tailgate worked flawless other than not being wide enough to see the edges of the tailgate to blast. New nozzle has a much larger spray pattern

Litle late to the party Motofool but while you were in there installing the upgrade kit on your dust collector could you tell if the bearings in the motor were replaceable or anything? Mine started howing and tripped the breaker tonight so I figure it's frozen up. Little too late now to take apart and doa post mortem but hoping tomorrow I can look inside and just see if there is a way to replace the bearings and maybe just put that HEPA upgrade on it to save it in the future.
