I have posted in the "Wanted" sub-forum, but don't know if that gets much traffic. So I need your help to keep the machine alive!! I have searched eBay and all over, it is a Discontinued part, cannot find anywhere.

Hello all,

I'm working on a older 1970's craftsman Disc/Belt 6x9" sander 113.22521 and need the LH cam adjuster (#68008). The sander is pictured below and the area circled in red is where it is located. It HAS to be from that side.

Aloha! I see this post is several years old but I am in the exact same situation! I let a visiting 19 year old use some of my shop equipment and when I came in from mowing, he showed me he had broken the exact part you picture. I found an exploded diagram that labels it a "Cam.Lh" part 68008 obsolete". I love the machine which was my husband's father's (now both deceased) and hate to buy new for the sake of basically a screw! Did you find a source or can you help me?

If you have all the old parts (but broken), see if you can find a welder who will put it back together. I believe that the cams are the same left and right, but are welded to the shaft in opposite directions. Your opposite cam can show the welder just how it fits together. He may have to modify a bolt to make a new shaft and drill the old broken part out of the cam to save it.

Thank you. It did occur to me that a machine shop might be able to copy it...I have the pieces. With your encouragement I'll see if I can find a welder or shop that can do it. My husband was a very fine welder - miss him.

I had to look up elevator bolts! Nice to know about them. I don't think they are heavy enough or have a large enough head. The cam part of this screw is 1/8" thick and 1 5/8" where it is widest. Still good idea and I'm glad to know about elevator bolts. I'm determined to find a machine shop that can either weld the original to a new stem or just fabricate something that will be equivalent. I know there are guys that can do that although sadly not so many these days.

I sold a set of these not too long ago. Your best bet is finding a beat up sander locally and gut it for parts.
