It's a Craftsman 7" woodworker's vise, made in Japan, new old stock in (opened) box.

Looks great, doesn't it? And I feel like I stole it for $34.

There's no date on it. I'm guessing early 1970s but maybe some of you guys can help date it.

No. South Beloit IL, near the Wisconsin border. The inventory label indicates it was shipped to the Janesville WI store.

Why do you ask?

Well I just happen to know a nice little old lady who is selling her late-husband's collection as kind of a way to pass the time and I went over there one afternoon and helped her price out some things. I happened across a new-in-box Craftsman wood vise much like that one and thought she might have listed it and you picked it up. If I recall correctly I suggested that she list it for right about what you paid for it.

Nice find!

Dwas: I can't recall all the information I had regarding yours (or mine) new old stock Craftsman wood vises, but thought you'd like to see i have one that is also new in the box and a few inches bigger.

Outlaw started a Craftsman vise thread where he posted all the Sears catalog pages from the late 1920's to maybe the 1970's that you might take a look at and see if you can find our vises and let us (me) know what you find out.

nice find!!!
